Ultimate chuunibyo gets reincarnated into a novel that they created filled with the edgiest characters and the most outrageous names. I couldn't get past chapter 3 just with how they wrote the female lead and immediately, within the first chapter, buffed her with characters and powers that makes her leagues ahead from anyone in the actual story.
I couldn't take any of the characters seriously and none of them were interesting or seemed realistic. They're too interesting and I couldn't think of them as individuals, which is important to keep the believability of the story.
Should you read it? You can give it a try until Chapter 3 and see if the flow of the story is engaging to you.
Reviewed at Chapter 3.
Interesting story premise executed poorly.
Everyone is familiar with Mary Sue characters. Standing out too much, super edgy, either super friendly or insanely antisocial. This is who our lead ends up inhabiting. After finding an old novel that has insanely bad writing, characters, plot and cliches galore, she burns it out of dread of having written it during her teenage years. Unfortunately for her, she goes to sleep that night and wakes up in the body of our main girl (whose name I couldn't bother to remember).
With such an interesting premise, you'd expect this would be some sort of comedy, right? I mean, it would make sense. Outrageous characters, ridiculous nicknames, cliche tropes. Nope. None of it. Not a single trace of comedy to be seen. Granted, I should have checked the tags first, but you would think it would be a comedy at any level, given the premise.
Unfortunately, all you get is super boring nonsense that isn't even remotely entertaining. You could easily chock this up to poor translation, but I doubt even the writing could save this. It's just a boring nothing cake with a very uninteresting lead character attempting to "fix" her characters in world, which isn't possible. So she's stuck frantically doing... nothing. The nobles made fun of her because of her questionable wear before inhabiting the body, but she doesn't really do anything that makes her stand out all that much. I would say she's irritating, but that requires her to be interesting, which she is not.
Dropped at chapter 10.
Okay it isn't THAT bad lol. I can't lie it made me laugh more than I thought I would. The ridiculous antics of the lead characters honestly drive the story and your nerves up the wall. It's been fun reading honestly, when I started it I was super super skeptical... the plot, characters and theme just seemed RIDICULOUS. But over time, I became pretty used to it, and I came to better know/expect certain things from characters. Even when I thought something would happen, something else popped up that would put a little spin on it!
The end certainly dragged on for a bit, but nevertheless it was pretty full circle. SOME unanswered questions but it's really okay, interpret what you want at the end! Whatever it is, you should draw your own conclusions upon reading!
~Happy Reading (:
Yall, this story isnt BAD!! i liked it. I liked the fact the main ML was actually the duke! Also, looking at a pov that this falls under "comedy" as well. I'd stay this was a moderately fun read.
It was cute and funny not much more you can ask for
