Once upon a time, two middle schoolers with no game-making knowledge came up with a 'story' an 'idea' for a game.  Full of traps, monsters, everything they wished they could have in a game.  They couldn't make it, of course, but what's wrong with a bit of fantastical make-believe?  Flash forward, and the main character is an adult living in the reality of a harsh world.  Doing manual labor for a living as well as having a second job afterwards, being treated like garbage. His rage meter is pretty close to the edge, but he's hanging on, having saved up for five years to afford a (small) place of his own.  His friend from middle school actually went on to become a game developer and, as a throwback to their younger years, made a sort of prototype of the game for his friend on a USB stick.  Pretty cool, he tried it... kept dying.  Thought it was pretty fun (kinda Dark Souls vibes it seems.) Back to reality, he finds out his place that he'd been saving up for for those 5 years?  Was a fraud.  He's been scammed and now he's in big trouble so he curses the world- but, oops!  Curse was literal, you all now have to deal with his monsters.  Y I K E.   On the plus?  Side?  MC is a bit more afraid of the monster called poverty than the monsters from his middle school years... and where there's money to be made, that he's in desperate need of?  Well, that's how the story begins.    Opinion corner: The art flips between being rough, overly comical (including simpsons style and other styles) or the occasional 'wow' panel where the artist actually tries.  This isn't really something you read for the gorgeous art, but because you want some more 'world is transformed into something like a game' kind of story to read.  If you want gorgeous art... go elsewhere. Heavily censored violence as well (like, you can tell what's happened, but it's covered by gigantic SFX and white streaks, like old comics) and for a story that's about fighting... the fight scenes aren't drawn all that well.  Story is fun, pretty cliche, but it holds your interest enough to care about it.  Main character is your basic 'man the world sucks for this guy, better let him get ahead in life through ridiculous circumstances' protag.  But that's enjoyable.  I find it a great positive that the MC isn't immediately good at fighting, has to realize that telling your character to 'dodge' and actually dodging yourself are entirely different things and he isn't OP from Day 1.  He just has knowledge... which is an advantage, but he has to work for his strength and risk his life a little, first.  lol.
