A Side Character's Love Story

Growing up, Nobuko Tanaka was always a ""side character"" standing off in the corner. Now in her 20s, she's fallen in love for the first time. While she isn't any good at being assertive, she will muster her courage bit by bit as she tries her best to close the distance between herself and her crush - because even side characters fall in love. If you're tired of the same old romantic protagonists, this modest, refreshing love story is for you.

If you're thinking that 'Mobuko no koi' is an isekai manga where the protagonist gets transmigrated into a side character of a novel then you're absolutely wrong.  Now, before we start, I want to say that I'm no fan of romances due to personal interests. Most of the romances I read are likely because I was too bored (which means I get bored easily) and very few of them suited my taste. This one's definitely one of those.  Story: Our protagonist, Nobuko is an ordinary shy college student who does part time job in a store. Gradually, she develops a crush for one of her co-worker, Hiroki. So she tries to muster up her courage to confess to her crush. Will her first love work out fine? What I like about the story is it proceeds in a very realistic yet interesting way; actually defining how real life relationship works. Unlike in the shoujo manga you usually see often, there are no toxic relations nor interactions or complex love triangles. Just a girl experiencing her first love. Art: The art is good as it has always been but nothing to brag about. Characters: The characters are another positive remark. They don't appear flashy but not boring either. Nobuko is a shy girl whom you might find cute despite not being a loli of course and Hiroki is also a realistic person not toxic at all. He is not your typical playboys or gloomy rich guy from shoujo rom-coms. A very normal  guy. The side characters are lovable and supportive towards  Nobuko's relationship.  Overall verdict: If you're looking for a sweet romance which isn't cringey then it's a perfect choice to pick. You will fall in love with the characters and the story itself. I'll recommend you this hidden gem burried under all those toxic romances being published.
