Summer Time Rendering - Reviews

It's a great watch, really standing out amongst the awful Isekai and Ecchi trash that dilutes the current pool of modern anime. 

The basic premise is that it's a groundhog day anime with mature themes, an interesting mystery, and engaging villains and protagonists. You have your tropes but what can you do - it's still very good. Definitely add it to your list.

Summer Time Rendering is definitely one of the hits of this season's anime. It won't win any awards but the story is intriguing and will keep your attention through. The premise itself is enticing. Comparing it to the manga, this adaptation is a one to one. The story does have a few holes, but it makes enough sense and will keep you watching. The characters, while intriguing and have interesting character designs, aren't exceptional. The main selling point is the production and it is very polished. You would be hard pressed to find any other seasonal anime with far better production. Overall, highly recommend if you're into the mystery genre.

Story: 

Summer Time Rendering is an anime that centers around Shinpei Ajiro and his birth island named Awajishima. The story follows the mystery of ancient folklore from the island that proves to be very dangerous. After visiting the island due to the death of his childhood accomplice, Ushio Kofune, he found himself stuck in a time loop where he would appear back in the past each time he died. He uses this power to solve the ancient mystery of the island, and with the help of a few friends, he seeks to stop the problem, concerning Awajishima island. Overall. this plot follows the concept of time travel with many new features that make it entertaining to watch. The anime will consist of 25 episodes, with the latest episode number being 13 during the time of this post. The story is fairly engaging and provides the viewers with many questions that are eventually answered. 

Characters:

Many of the characters are introduced in a planned and entertaining fashion. The foreshadowing and introduction each character hold all come together to form one mosaic. The main character, Shinpei, is a calm individual with a mysterious past that is revealed throughout the anime. He is fairly outgoing and fairly mature. He handles problems head-on and keeps trying until he succeeds. There are many other mysterious characters as well with engaging personalities and decent character design. Shinpei is a male character with long hair. He is quite intelligent and reacts to new information in an interesting way. Characters are all introduced in a dramatic or exciting fashion, making the entire anime a very interesting show to watch.

Sound and Animation:

The music and animation for this series are quite decent, as it is used in situations that raise the quality of the scene. The anime is animated by OLM, and the animation is fairly average. It is not too detailed but not bad either. The animators gave a lot of attention to the little details, that really heighten the anime for the viewer. Additionally, the sound effects used provides the viewer with a sense of realism, and the anime is good at conveying emotions, be it eerie or tense, it is oftentimes done well, and heightened by the quality of sound and animation.

Concluding statement:

Overall, this anime is a fairly interesting take on time and monsters. It is a fairly original anime, and has many moments that are amazing, including the big reveals that lets the viewer really reflect and think about the next episodes. Personally, I would recommend this anime, but those not into mystery or anime with a slightly eerie feel may not enjoy this particular anime. However, the comedy and expressiveness of this anime is one that I have not seen in a long time.

This is gonna ba an AOTY contender. The plot, characters, animation, and everything is on point. You would really get the thrills if you watch this. Very recommended, specially to those who likes psychological - horror genre.
