If you're looking for anime similar to Gatchaman, you might like these titles.
Humans on the Mars colony do not have it easy. At the age of 16, any child (male or female) is required to take a soldier qualification test or become a laborer; in either case, all members of society are expected to work hard under militant ideals. Joe Maya has just turned 16, and on the eve of ditching his test, he and his brother stumble upon a sight to remember: aliens – the first that humans have ever encountered – have appeared in the sky in the midst of an intense battle. After running into a beautiful alien princess, Joe finds himself inside of a giant robot that he can seemingly control with his mind; and thus, set forth a series of events which will change his and his friends’ lives forever. With the help of his friends and their newfound "steeds", Joe will help fight evil and save the beautiful princess.

Both Tobikage and Gatchaman have a hilariously old feel, combined with giant robots and mayhem. The campy factor is strongly prevalent in both, and in general are a good match for each other. If you liked one, try out the other.
Deep beneath the surface of the Earth, an evil race is studying the origins of man and seeks to conquer and populate the world. Led by Prince Garuda, his mother, and a number of vicious monsters, the fiends are quick to attack and little hope remains for humanity – that is, except for Professor Nanbara's creation, the super electromagnetic robot Combattler V! This massive piece of machinery is made up of five pieces that are piloted by five young men and women, and represents Earth's only chance of survival against the invaders. Go, Combattler V! Protect the world!

Gatchaman and Combattler V are both cheesy series from times of olde, filled with garish colors and ridiculous outfits for the heroes. While Gatchaman is more of a sentei series and Combattler V is more of a mecha focus, I still think fans of one would like the other.
Golion, a powerful sentient robot, abuses his great powers by attacking and killing creatures known as Deathblack Beastmen, boasting that no one could defeat him. A divine space being punishes Golion for his arrogance and abuse by seperating him into 5 different lion robots. In the year 1999, a group of 5 young men return to Earth after a space voyage, only to find it ravaged by nuclear war. After encountering the alien race known as the Galra, the 5 youths end up on the planet Altea, and learn that the 5 lion robots that Golion was split into are in hibernation in various parts of Altea. Somehow, they must reunite the lions and form Golion, the only hope for the human race.

How does one start the similarities?
A team of 5
They fight against overwhelming odds.
Both have a hero vehicle of sorts. In Golion(voltron) It is 5 armored mecha resembling lions, that can combine into a giant singular humanoid mecha.
In Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets) the team has one giant singular ship that has mini vehicles inside of it (such as a smaller fighter, a rolling 4x4 and a motor bike)
both series the cast is dressed in a Ccrayola box of colors.
part of a classic genre of episodic action tales. Both are very similar.
Earth is in terrible danger! From the depths of the ocean, Hell Queen V and the evil Mongool empire have risen, attacking Japan with a fleet of ships and monsters. Hope lies only with an unlikely group of heroes that must gather their strength and pilot four mecha capable of beating these foes. Can Tenpei, Jinta, Kenjou and Gensuke save the day, and the world?

Old school ultra cheesy action hero titles? Look no further than Gatchaman and Blocker Corps.
Honey Kisaragi thought she was a typical teen, until one day she discovers that her father, a genius of robotic engineering, has been murdered. The culprit is the evil Panther Claw organization, a dastardly group of women who want one thing more than life itself: a device that can manipulate elements and create rubies, diamonds and other precious jewels. The only problem is... the device is inside Honey herself! For Honey is actually an android created by her father, and with the flip of a switch she can transform herself into a crime-fighting vixen. Sometimes she's a photographer, a model, a racer, a flight attendant or a singer, but her true identity is the soldier of love, Cutey Honey!

There is an evil organization hell bent on causing problems. BUT fear not! You have someone to fight the unending hordes of bad guys.
In both titles the (good) characters can transform into different outfits to fight the bad guys. In Gatchaman, it is a suit for fighting, in Honey it is varrious disguises and personas to take on the baddies.
Each week the villains have a lead bad guy and a group of masked minions to tackle. There is also a sinister main bad guy who sends out the teams, while a dark commander is pulling the strings.
Basically these are great prototype anime form a defining era of anime in the 70's.
Emperor Burai of the Hyakki Empire threatens to take over Earth, and it's up to Ryo, Hayato, and newcomer Benkei to stop him with the new Getter Robo G.

Although I find Gatchaman better in pretty much all aspects, I can see the obvious link of having a team , one being a woman, and one being a rather heavy set man. There are normally the 2 other guys, one being the too cool, second in command, and then the leader. There is also a comander of opperations in a lab coat.
They usually have the singular baddies thay are fighting.
The story takes place in a universe where countless parallel universes are known to exist. There is always a link — called "Prism" — connecting the modern world and these parallel worlds, and sometimes energy and substance come through. One day, monsters, known as "Eight", come from a parallel world and begin attacking. Humanity begins its counterattack using a power called "Skuld," which harnesses the power of tomorrow. The government gathers Skuld users into an army known as "Norn," but the Eight still wreak destruction over the years. Then, a boy named Asuma who can use an ancient weapon is discovered.
