Personally I'm restraining myself from watching the recent subs of individual episodes so I can watch all 4 at once. That and the extra anticipation will make it even better when I finally get to watch it :megusta:
or I'm just a masochist who knows.

Anyway feel free to discuss anything about the show here :P
It's already Rank #5 on A-P so I'm guessing the 2 subbed episodes were good and there is more soon to come.
Either that or more people are able to watch RAW's than I initially thought...

Well I just watched the first two episodes subbed. I enjoyed both of them, however I feel like I enjoyed episode 2 far more than episode 1.

To me, episode 1 really just felt like
a rehash/summary to remind people what went on during this time frame of the story, with a couple of funny gags, and a big helping of fanservice at certain points. Not that I dislike fanservice at all, this just wasnt the first episode that I was expecting I guess?

Episode 2 however
gets back into serious mode for the most part. We also get to see Oshino again which I enjoyed since he is one of my favorite characters. And despite the seriousness, they were able to throw in a nice little skit with Shinobu and her Mr. Doughnuts obsession happening for the first time.

Those are just my initial opinions thus far, so I guess I could say that I liked episode 2 and that I am looking forward to more. :drinking:

I'd be interested in hearing about other peoples opinions to what they have seen so far. :cereal:

I want a gif made for
The breast grabbing scene
in episode one.
Seriously, someone make it happen. Now.

Also, this is a show I could never make an "SCREEN CAP TIEM" for.
It is never boring to look at.

Also, all this fanservice makes it blatantly obvious that this is indeed made after Nisemonogatari.
Still, it has already kinda made me look at Araragi in a different light. Interesting.

At around 7:06 of the first episode: wasn't that book the story of Yamata no Orochi and Susanoo? Though with odd names to replace the original ones...

I wondered if the introduction of prequels could open the possible route for newcomers to watch them first.
Just a mere passing thought, but it is clear that it is folly. Would not work at all.

I've yet to watch this (though my body is clearly ready), but I'd hate for it to be as fanservice heavy as Nise. Seriously, I know they're pandering to me, a fan, but it starts getting in the way of a good story at some point. Bakemonogatari has seamless integration of fanservice. Nise was over the top. Too much of a good thing.

They are already on donmai.us and other booru's

Episode 1.
The animation didn't look at fluid as usual in places, but it still retains the monogatari feel quite well

Episode 2.
Can't wait to watch the 3rd episode, gods.

The Shinobu Scene was priceless

anyway was a much better episode than the first and had everything I loved about Bakemonogatari. It reminds me of when I watched it through for the first time. Glad to see that the show is still dialogue driven; after all that's what makes the show.

Poor Araragi ever since after he lost most of his powers from when he was a vampire every fight he loses brutally. Then again Araragi always seems to lose to win if that makes sense like with Karen for example.

Also for once I think CommieSubs did a good job here, especially with the cat puns.

anyway commie can't you sub faster ;_; Well I guess the monogatari series are expected to take longer to sub than other shows but still......
I'm going crazy here. PLEASE.
Oh and also I know you're supposed to just discuss the anime itself here, but I hope all of you give the light novels a chance on Baka-Tsuki even if you don't really like reading. Nisio Isin is a genius.

how the hell did i miss that nekomonogatari came out?! AAAA GOTTA GO WATCH NOW

edit: yay, I missed those dialogues so much, awesome :D

Episode 1:

My favorite waifu porn is back. Yay. And it features that H girl I don’t give a slightest fuck about… Nay! Thank god there was 2 sister porn to get me through this episode… but fuck that. What this episode was all about: boobs and indecisiveness about buying porn magazine. Deep shit here...
Oh yeah, no Shinobu, which means that this episode was shit. Moving on…

AAAARGGGGHHHHHBLLLLAAAAARRRRGGGGEEEEENNFLARGENHAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGG

How In Holy Fuck Did I Miss This!?!?!?!?!?!

Obtaining them now.

Episode 3
That episode was purrfect. I can't wait fur the next one.
Commie did purrticularily well here they were pawsitively way above par compared to their usual subs. Purrhaps it's beclaws Commie Subs are furry good with cat puns.
ok I tried.
Anyway Commie gains a bit more respect from me. I mean like this was genius

I had to re watch the episode though, the first time I was t̶o̶o̶ ̶b̶u̶s̶y̶ ̶l̶o̶o̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶a̶t̶ ̶h̶a̶n̶e̶k̶a̶w̶a̶'̶s̶ ̶b̶r̶e̶a̶s̶t̶s̶ slightly distracted.

Learning the extent of her troubled past is definitely interesting and I wonder how Araragi will act. Keeping in mind he also agreed with the fact that Hanekawa must save herself.
Oh ya this is from episode 2 but Oshino reveals Shinobu`s mannerisms dynamically changes based on Araragi`s perception of her. Which shows why in Nisemonogatari after Shinobu saves him she starts talking again.

All in all, not bad... but it seemed way too calm in comparison to the others. The dialogue wasn't as witty nor thought provoking, it didn't have it's usual "Something is always happening in the background" or "Symbolism everywhere", and it seemed generally low-budget compared to Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari... Heck, there was even obvious recycled animation from the other 2 series that was just reskinned (Black Hanekawa having Senjougahara's mannerisms, facial expressions, etc). Kinda disappointing, but still good enough to tide me over for Kizumonogatari.

3.5/5

^Animation was pretty fluid imo I don't know what you're talking about. Also for that lack of thought provoking, witty dialogue, well half the time it was Neko talking what did you expect :P A lot of that "dialogue" you talk about from Bake which you enjoyed...I'm pretty sure you just have Senjougahara fascination. also just wondering did you watch UTW subs or Commie?

I sort of see where you are coming from but I think they did the LN's justice and that's the most important thing for me. oh and about that animation budget we both know where all of that went towards NSFW

As much as I'm excited for Kizumonogatari, Zenmonogatari is going to be the anime of the year I'm calling it right now.

Episode 4
Good conclusion and it stayed true to the Light Novels as expected. The little things like the chalk board drawing of karen brushing her teeth made me laugh, I guess he's learning about oral hygiene during class

Also damn Araragi, always getting the living shit beat out of him, and still ending up winning. (with Shinobu's help in this case)

The whole so good that other people around you start to have feelings of hate towards you was sort of thought provoking albeit only a bit. If you remember in Nise where there was the ramble about the theory of fundamental good and fundamental evil it seems that most people in the series agree with latter. All in all a good conclusion that wrapped out most of the Black Hanekawa story nicely as well as giving us a lot of depth behind Araragi's and Hanekawa's relationship.
._. why I'm writing this at 3:30 in the morning I'll never know.
FINAL VERDICT
SHINOBU TALKED
SHINOBU WAS INVOLVED

SHINOBU KICKED ASS

I DON'T EVEN CARE WHAT SHAFT MAKES JUST SEEING THE CHARACTERS MAKES ME WANT TO REWATCH BAKE AND NISE EVEN AFTER ALMOST 20 REWATCHES

SFAHNYS APPROVES. PURRFECT SCORE GET.

So far this has been a great prequel, yea, some scenes are revamped, and they did downplay the dialog abit, but so what? If you remember, a vast amount of dialog was lost in translation due to the writing, meaning, spelling, puns and symbolism that a lot of subs couldn't fluidly translate. At least this time around it's a lot easier to understand. All in all, great series.

What the hell did the 6 rooms and no signs of Hanekawa? Please explain, somebody.

Hanekawa's "parents" don't even give her a room, despite having 6 rooms. That's how much they hate her. She probably always slept on the kitchen floor or something.
It's like Harry Potter ahahahahahhahahahahahaa.

Just marathoned all 4 eps. Me likely, even if it did feel more fanservicey than Nise. Review to follow.
