Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting!
Mar 8, 2019This anime is one of my favorites because of its softer approach to many situations in life. Although Ippo must face challengers in the ring as foe, he still finds ways to remain close and friendly to them, making the whole anime's message conveyed clearly. The animation and story balance humor, emotion, and plot in order to make this a very effective, family-friendly anime.
P.S. I actually hadn't heard of this one before until I realized we had the game (Boxing Revolution) at our house.

As a boxing fan, this is one of my all time favorite sports anime. Ippo is a very likeable character that gets a lot of development and there are many interesting characters besides him. I agree with everything you said except for the poor animation score. I mean the animation is fucking gorgeous for 2002 and the fight sequences where amazing I remember when it came out everyone was praising the animation.
