Please note that I base my scoring with a 5 out of 10 as Mediocre. As a result, a 4 means it was below average, but not terrible. Anyways....

This is one of those animes where it appears they only have a vague idea of where they wanted to take it. It starts out strong, but then it gets muddled into half-ass battles and "war strategies", crappy politicking, wierd potential love interests, etc. They then throw in the supernatural because why the hell not?

The last 5 or 6 episodes in particular are tough to get through. The plot goes all over the place and their attempts to bring in surprise twists into the show come off as pretty forced and leaves lots of loose ends. Its almost like they were told at the last minute that there would be no expected second season, and realized they had only a few episodes to make a somewhat coherent ending.

As for the animation, being from 2006, its obviously dated and it shows in the stiff movement and static backgrounds. The animators also had a thing against color I think - everything is very muted.
