This is by far one of the greatest new Animes I've ever seen. Now days most  of the new ones are predictable stories without innovative ideas and are being compensated through way too much fanservice.

But Vinland saga is different 

It has a huge spectrum of characters with delicate and detailed personalities. Even characters completely uninteresting to the storyline have huge personalities including inner conflicts, which are great in explaining common beliefs of that Era and Historical context.

The fact that it's serious, unpredictable and doesn't have fanservice is what makes this perfect. And I can only hope that it will introduce a new Era of serious Anime and that that overuse of fanservice will finally die down.
