Yeah, I always saw Yuri as the type of guy who would refer to his sister as "mom" in public, but never noticed that he did. Yor raised him on his own, so it's understandable that he has a strange attachment to her. But his obsession with Yor isn't really incestuous, it's just not healthy either. He's basically a giant mama's boy who doesn't want Loid to be his new "father".
When children grow up without a father/mother figure, some of them wish they had someone to fill that void, and Yor was considered his mother figure because she is the one who basically raises him, while he sees her the only family member he has. left, Yuri has become obsessed with making sure he stays safe from all forms of threats, including Loid and Anya, who could take Yor away from him.
It's pretty sad, but it effectively shows how messed up the war has affected them, providing some comic relief to the series.
He wished people would give Yuri a break, seeing him as a badass when he's just trying to protect his only family in his own way.
Yuri really needs another arc centered around him, but without Yor around, just to show us again that he has more depth. And it would be great if Nightfall was involved as well.
And I hope it happens soon, because even though Yuri can be extremely over the top to the point of being annoying at times with his obsession, I'm also annoyed that so many people still call it incest.
Why is this atrocity even a part of the anime, it completely disrupts the whole 'sweet wholesome family' vibe which otherwise would have worked so well.
