Only three strips induced the lolz (ch. 12, 22, 161)--not the best laugh to not-laugh ratio, especially for a comic whose life purpose is so obviously to be humorous. There are quite a few jokes based on puns, mistranslations, and wordplay as well as slapstick face-punching and general outlandish behavior. Shamelessness concerning nudity and porn. Some of the running gags include Misuzu's masochistic streak and the uncuteness of Makihara's mom. It starts out as a story about a girl, Misuzu, who wants to make friends but has been ostracized for associating with a complete weirdo, Shoutaro, and ends up accepting advice from that weirdo on how to befriend people. As the story continues, that friend-making premise becomes much less central and the strips just start showing random odd behaviors and interactions of the small group of otaku and oddballs. The student council president's vengeance schemes become the recurring plot theme. In some ways, it's oddly impressive how they bring back previous details while wrapping things up (like how bathwater + stalker = tactical victory). The moral of the story is that people change based on the friends they hang out with.
