Ruin Explorers

Ihrie and Fam are just two of the many explorers searching ruins for something called the 'ultimate power'. With the 'ultimate power' the owner has the ability to have any wish granted. Of course all the explorers have different motives for finding this relic, ranging from revenge on a curse-casting mentor, to saving a kingdom from utter destruction.

Ruin Explorers and Tenchi Universe share many of the same traits. Primarily, the biggest thing being the "feel" of each show. They have a warm comaraderie among the characters that seems to have been lost after the early to mid 90's. Tenchi fans will see an amazing parallel between Fam and Ihrie, and Mihoshi and Kiyone. Their dynamic duo of strict enforcer with a soft spot for the clutzy tan blonde who always seems to find a way always has you wanting to see what they will get into next. So check these out if you've seen the other.

The male lead in cat planet cuties really reminded me of tenchi from tenchi muyo. There was also the whole harem of alien women thing that they both had going for them. Both anime also did not have a definite female lead with a lot of screen time being given to each love rival.
