These two titles clearly share core similarities. Main character males, struggling with peculiar relationships, all revolving around the Japanese "nerd" culture of manga, games, etc.

This is kind of a gut recommendation since these anime are really nothing alike plot wise, but they have a very similar feel. They're both overall just light and fun to watch, but they both have their points where you find yourself desperately rooting for a given character in their life hurdles. The characters in these anime also have in common that quality of feeling like you know them, if you're somebody where character development means a lot to you these are your anime. They are characters you can laugh with, cry with, get angry with and easily develop favorites and those you can't stand.

Bakuman. and Silver Spoon (Gin no Saji) make you root for their protagonists while giving you a warm happy feeling.

The shows take daily life and manage to make it an interesting and compelling story, where main characters try to find their path in this world.

I think if you like one you will probably like the other.

After just a few episodes of Bakuman, I knew I'd make this recommendation, although I waited until I finished the series. Both of these feature young teens who start as complete rookies in their field and, through serious dedication, work their way toward becoming professionals. They work alone or in small teams, without the added motivation of a school club—in fact, their new goals can isolate them from normal school activities. There's competition involved in both, too. So if one of these series inspired and intrigued you, the other is probably worth a try.

There's just one problem: she's never played the guitar before in her life! Joined by bassist Mio, drummer Ritsu and keyboardist Tsumugi, Yui and the gang will juggle their studies with buying instruments, learning how to read music and even performing in the school festival, all in the hopes of someday becoming a successful band!

Both anime are about students doing something they are passionate about. The both anime shows the determaniation of the characters , how they face 'hard' situation while trying to follow their dream.

Only difference is that bakuman is about Manga. K-On! is about music.

Both show the process of creating either manga or anime. They are both very honest in the way they portrait how it really is, in case you didn't know.

Although different genres, both main characters are aspiring to become manga authors. In Bakuman he actually has talent though unlike in Love stage and the main focus in Bakuman is becoming a successful manga artist while Love Stage focuses on the relationship between two guys. Still, I think there is some similarity in the main characters and Love Stage kind of reminded me of Bakuman.

Also, there is an episode in Love Stage where the two guys work together to finish a manga and that's a lot like Bakuman as well as a few of the following events.

The Great Passage

The Great Passage

Dictionaries are ships which guide people through a sea of words and help us all to understand one another. This is the guiding principle at Genbu Books' Dictionary Editorial Department where they are int he process of creating a brand-new dictionary, "The Great Passage - Daitokari," designed for the modern era. Just when production is underway, the Chief of the department must retire. Shortly after this news comes down, one of their editors, Masahi Nishioka, runs into a salesman from their company, Mitsuya Majime, while out at one of their vendors. Majime has a real love and appreciation for words, and is invited to join the Editorial Department where he can put his talents to work.

If you liked Fune Wo Amu or Bakuman, so you'd like the other, because they both is about the creation process of book (manga/dictionary), both is showing action "behind the scenes" and fates of characters in long time term (from the begining, I mean the idea, 'till the very end - when the purpose is done.

While both of these are about making manga, Bakuman is more intense and competitive, while Comic Girls is more laid-back and focuses on the girls' daily lives and interactions with each other. However, at heart they are both about working hard, trying again after failure, and encouraging one another to improve and achieve ones goals.
