I... may have gotten impatient and watched the first episode raw >_>

At any rate. I have no idea what's going on (I didn't watch the entire thing), but HOLY SHIT THOSE VISUALS. I am so blown away right now. This is the coolest looking anime ever, and for that it will probably make my top list even if the story ends up completely blowing (which is unlikely).
Hot damn

I can not wait to see either.

Gary, I think you could watch it. You probably know Lupin is pretty much, catch it where ever you want. Unless you just want to polish off some of the older stuff before moving on.

subs are out now and i gotta say looks wise great. story wise good

it just feels like a lupin special to me. i hope the "story" will be interesting revolving around that sassy gal but we'll see

I know that I won't be lost. Lupin has always been like James Bond, where each one is its on confined story. Probably the only Lupin III anime needed to watch before is the original series, where each character is introduced. Even still, I don't think people need to. I just know that there are a lot of Lupin III animes that I haven't seen that I plan to watch.

Hm, I expected this to be similar to the more light-hearted younger Lupin stories, now I see that it has more in common with the first more grittier Lupin season(s).
Let's see if they are able to pull off an interesting story-line, otherwise I would be quite disappointed.

dat art

I think it's time for me to start rewatching Lupin III. It's been way to long since I've seen the original.

Great first episode. But, being the series it is, we already knew that.

I've only seen one movie of Lupin (the mermaid one, which was meh), so I didn't go into this thinking it would be that great. Very surprised, first episode set up some great potential plot (main fail of the movie I saw), and the visuals are weird but great.

^ Lupin III movies (specials) are a hit or miss thing for me, if you want to see the best Lupin feature you should watch 'Castle of Cagliostro' which was directed by Miyazaki, Lupin doesn't get better than this IMO.

I just finished the first episode. It was amazing and felt like a blast from the past. I cannot wait for more. I wasn't expecting much from this but it delivered!

Boobs were a bonus.

Checked this out and enjoyed it. The only Lupin I've watched is Castle of Cagliostro, would like to watch the original series at some point. But I don't think it's necessary to appreciate this new series, I found no barriers in watching this first episode. It was fun, the visuals are great and Fujiko is hot.

The character designer, and animation director is Takeshi Koike. He was the director, character designer, etc. of Redline. That's why it looks so good.

I'm curious about when the story is going to take place. At first it seems like it is a prequel to the original series. I noticed that Goemon is going to be in the show. BTW Goemon doesn't join forces with Lupin until midway through the original series.

That explains a lot and is great to hear. Redline was rad and I also loved the short he directed in the Animatrix as well.

He also did not show up in the original manga at first either. But he has been around quite some time.

In the ways he came to work with Lupin, usually involve him at odds with Lupin at first, then working with him.

This is NOT going to be very Castle of Cagliostro-ish, is my opinion.

The main difference I noticed was the lack of the style of humour in Cagliostro. Not too mention nudity... But I don't have an issue with that. This definitely seems a lot edgier.

Cagliostro had great slapstick humour and Lupin is goofing around in this series too all the same, but you are right, this series will be definitely grittier than Cagliostro, Fujiko was quite mean
to the guy who lost his head for her
As for Goemon, I think a saw a not so old Lupin special (don't remember the name) in which he wasn't affiliated with Lupin yet and even tried to kill him, but gave up after a while when he couldn't keep himself from laughing any-more because of Lupin constantly playing up.

In First Contact Goemon chases Lupin forever in Manhattan.

I gotcha, yeah it is different. But maybe in a good way.

Good thing you don't have an issue with the nudity. ;)
Lupin the manga, and a lot of the anime had nudity. Fujiko lost her top/bottom all the time. Castle of Cagliostro or the Fuma Conspirousy were the mildest versions of Lupin. Fujiko many times uses her body to get her way.

Episode 2. This show's great.
For just an episodic story about Jigen and the wife (can't remember/spell her name right) I thought it was awesome, even slightly tragic. And Fujiko .

The tombstone inscription wasn't translated ;)
In memory of a woman
that has lived in the past
and was overrun by it
Rest in peace
This episode wasn't bad at all, I think I will happily continue to watch the series.

@kargarus
The name of the woman was Cicciolina, like the Italian porn star ;) , but Moana was much better. LOL
