-Story- The Story in The Sky Crawlers is a complex one, and it can be hard to follow at times, but thats what makes it a good story. It explores some of the deepest parts of the human experience, and it makes you think. The concept itself is preey good too, and the idea of corperate warfare seems like it could actually happen one day. The Kildren provide a decent perspective of the human experience, so that we can explore it from a whole new light. However, If you are into lots of action, then this is not the movie for you. This movie will bore people who demand constant action. The Sky Crawlers has a lot of quiet moments in it, and it really requires the audience to focus on the little details that are revealed as the story progresses. This movie is detail oriented and may require several viewing to see and understand all of the little details that show up through out the film. All in all, the story is amazing, and makes this movie well worth seeing.

-Animation- For the most part, the art in the movie was excellent. It made the places seem real, and they put a lot of details into the environment of the Character. The world in which the characters live in, vibrant and alive. It possesses charm and detail. The one major fault with the art is that the CGI used doesn't fit well with the traditional animation of the rest of the movie, and when we go from the CGI dogfights, to the traditional animation scenes, it almost feels like they are from two separate films.

-Characters- Thes characters are really amazing. They are believable and are very interesting to watch. They are complex and it seems like that they are real people, and not just some 2 dimensional drawing on a screen. They are really excellent. Each character stands out on their own, and makes a wonderful impression on the audience.

-Overall- The story is great, the animation is good, and the characters are excellent. This is definatley worth watching.

I'll try to write this review without putting many spoilers, but since I recently saw this movie, there is a strong chance a couple may slip by. That aside first I'll point out the stuff disliked by most, its long and it can get boring, the animation is done pretty much in CG, the eyes look dead and bland but if you get the meaning behind the story, they do signify a lot of things and lastly the pacing. That said if you can bear with those, beneath this is a hidden gem, one not recommended by many and has quite a lot of depth in the story and the character department. It does a good enough job of comparing our world with the world in the story, it sends out message showing that we "support" the activities on the war field, but those who actually tread on the field actually know what it feels like. It draws similarities to history in general where in historically for generations at a stretch some communities and countries have faught against each other and have come to a point they don't know what are they fighting for. The protagonist undergoes major changes from being transformed from a soldier / robot who does what is instructed without thinking too much about why is he doing it, and has a perspective of being a fighter pilot is just like any other job except that it involves shooting down planes for a living to fully understand his emotional and more human side. His transformation to more human being is fueled by a number of tragedies and they do a good job in making him as well as the viewer realize how short the life is of a soldier on the field. The truth of world is known by some soldiers as well but they simply can't change it as they are merely pawns on much larger battlefield. Over all this movie at the end simply made me feel sad about humanity in general, made me think about what really is a nation? Why do we have armies? Why does war exist even after 20+ centuries. Is human ego really that big?

The movie in it self is rather slow moving, and can get pretty long, when there is no aktion are anything happening the fiorst half of the movie.

But if you are willing to sit through the first part, it get rather interresting , when the main character has to find out what is happpening around him, why he exist and where he comes from.

The story is rather complex and deep going. And the characters that are in main fokus have a rather fine human thouch without giving away the cold hearts they can have inside.

I find it worth a watch if you are into the investigation and the truth finding in the movie, but if you hunger for aktion this movie is not for you.
