Xixi’s Romance Story

Mar 3, 2019

If you're looking for a new and interesting romance series to try, Xixi Romance is not it. The story is about an arranged marriage where a poor girl is married to a rich CEO (because she was blackmailed) and the drama that unfolds afterwards . Every predictable plot point is used, and it doesn't really bring anything interesting to the genre. Avoid unless you're looking for generic romance to waste time on. Story The story follows Yanxi, who is blackmailed by Jinxi to take her place (and identity, while the real Jinxi leaves the country) and marry the rich and cold CEO, Xicheng. It's an arranged... That Was Good

Jun 19, 2011

This was a random one-volume yaoi manga I ordered at the local comic shop for fun. I was never a big yaoi fan, but decided I should try some. Luckily, I ended up with a good one!   That Was Good is made up of 3 unrelated stories. The first involves a pilot, his son, and their new housekeeper, and is called That Was Good. This one is the longest one, and my favorite. I REALLY enjoyed the story and was disappointed when I realized that the entire volume wasn't centered around these characters. A great story, characters, and the perfect mix of comedy, drama, and lust. I highly recommend it to yaoi... See full review

Shoujo no Tsukurikata

Aug 29, 2013

Very simple, but beautiful! This is very shot manga chapter that shows the creation of a Rozen Maiden doll. It is too short to write a proper review for, but if you are a fan of the Rozen Maiden series, I would highly recommend this. It can be read at any point in the series (including as a prequel), and is only several pages long. It's a bit abstract, but it fits the series nicely.

Otogibanashi wo Anata ni

May 8, 2018

"Otogibanashi wo Anata ni" is a collection of three different romance shories, collected in one volume. The first two are related, the third is not. However, what all three do have in common is their complete mediocrity. Spoiler-free review. The first story is about a cocky soldier in a made-up medieval kingom who is insulted by a strong-willed girl who lives in a village near a castle. It's hard to talk much about the plot much without spoilers because it is so short, but all you need to know is that this is boring. It's a generic romance of boy-meets-girl and they fall in love. This... See full review

Model

Dec 6, 2009

Model came out just as the large vampire trend was beginning. And I do believe those who are interested in romance/vampire series could find this enjoyable. I, however, do not find the genre interesting and found this a chore to read. The romance plot was a bit too cliché and therefore boring, although the additons of some extra supernatural characters did help. Story Model is about a young girl, Jae, whos roommate brings home an unconscious man. During the night the weak man, Micheal, reveals himself as a vampire as he drinks Jae's blood before passing out. As her own personal revenge she... See full review

Coin Laundry no Onna

Nov 15, 2011

Story: This manga is one volume, but is divided up into several one-shot stories that are sometimes related. The stories are random and there isn't really any continuity. It's not interesting to read. If one or two of these were tweaked they could be cool horror one-shots, but alas they throw in some humor and ruin that mood. Art: Nothing special. However, I'm a fan of the few horror scenes. Very creapy looking. Characters: We don't learn much about them and there is no development. Two characters appear in most of chapters, but most appear randomly. Two others appear randomly for one... See full review

AKB49: Renai Kinshi Jourei

Jul 20, 2014

Idols, and idol-related media, has been becoming ever more popular in Japan and other Asian countries. Groups like AKB, NMB48, and Hello! Project are poping up and quickly growing in both size and popularity. This idol-culture is now spreading in North America too, fueled in part by the number of idol anime and manga being released and translated. IdolM@ster, Love Live, Aikatsu, and AKB0048, are some examples of recent idol shows, each one using a different angle to explore the lives of female pop idols. I personally enjoy idol anime, but idol manga is something new to me; AKB49 is my first idol manga... See full review
