Parasyte -the maxim-

Parasyte

Ok, so that was a nice one, so how do I find this review?

Story

Ok, so the plot of the anime centers around Shinichi and his independent right hand Migi. At first it kinda reminds us of the past anime Midori no Hibi, except while the latter was more of a romantic comedy, Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu was more of an action thriller, where body snatching parasites whose origins were unknown have suddenly made an entrance. But, as usual, there are always a couple of characters who has to be the exception and that would be the characters that I’ve previously mentioned. What make the story good (imo) was that its plot has more to do with the survival and the relationship between two entities between parasite and prey that have  fight to live, also the plot itself has presented a lot of developments over its entire 24 episodes, we’ve seen how Migi becomes more humanistic when before it only sees itself as a killing machine, we also see how the fight among parasites has develop from parasite battling out with each other to humans being able to get pay back to the final battle between Shinichi and the ultimate monster to the wacko who almost killed Murano, so my verdict, I give it a good 7.

Animation

I’m not much of an art critic since in my perception as to how the animation was done doesn’t concern me at all and it was a bit bad that there wasn’t any fanservice around , even the sex scene between Shinichi and Murano was a bit lousy, the only moe around here was Kana, my verdict, a fair 6.

Sound

I’m not much of a critic of the voice over being done with the character, so I’m gonna give this category a 7 for the opening theme.

Character

Shinichi at one was a bit annoying for being this wussie guy who can’t seem to stand up for himself, but things change when Migi enter his life or should I say almost ate his brain, I started to like the transformation where he becomes this cool guy who can now kick ass. Migi on the other hand may have started as a emotionless parasite, but as he becomes part of Shinichi they both have a relationship where it can be compred to is as brothers in arms……..if I can call it that way. Murano…..ok she sweet and I kinda like that she has served as Shinichi’s comfort, but I’m a bit pissed off by her cry baby attitude, then again somebody has to be the damsel in distress and she filled that void, so my verdict for this category, a good 7.

Overall

It was quite a unique, where the concept was based on Midori no Hibi, but then again, the action and thriller hasn’t made this anime a let down, so therefore it was worth watching. Final verdict, a very good 8. Btw, the review I'm making is for the anime, don't let the live action pic fool you.
