I used to watch a lot of anime on TV as a kid in the '80s but I didn't know anything about newer series until I kind of stumbled upon the scene in 2012 while taking a walk down memory lane.
Now my son talks about "your cartoons" and I'm teaching myself Japanese (slowly). I already had an interest in Japanese culture, specifically Art and Architecture, so adding Manga and Anime is just a natural progression, right?

trottolina said..."Hey, thanks for the nice comment! Sorry it's taken me a while to reply back. I'm currently watching Ruroni Kenshin for the first time... not my favorite anime, but I'm invested enough in the characters to watch through to the end.
I like Kaoru especially."
Rurouni Kenshin is not for everyone, that it's not. There's such diversity and choice in anime that one might appeal to this group of people, but might not to another group of people. That's one thing about anime more than most other forms of entertainment, which is what makes it great.
Thank you for sharing with me! That's thoughtful of you. I'm glad to see that you are invested enough in the characters to see it through. That is the best part of the series, indeed it is.

I just saw a post of yours on the forum and I wanted to drop by to say, "Hi trottolina!" I think it's awesome how you are so interested in Japanese culture and how you it sounds like you're spending time with your son watching anime together. Am I right? Well, it's a pleasure to meet you. Cheers!
