Heaven's Design Team

Dec 31, 2023

A boring comedy anime with a unique concept. God is busy and has decided to outsource the  animal/creature designs to a "company."  Even though the premise is nonsensical, it is still interesting to see what humans would do with that kind of responsibility/power. That being said, I felt like the execution was poor. The characters are generic. The comedy was cheap and sparse.  In this case, I didn't mind the fact that the plot was episodic, but the pacing was jumbled and the mini-stories were boring. There are also plenty of "lgbt vibes"- which I'm not... See full review

Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san

Dec 31, 2023

A boring, wannabe-comedy about a guy who looks like a skeleton and works at a bookstore. Cringey characters and reactions. Almost all of the Americans are fat or ugly fu¢ks. It's not funny at all. Most of the clients are looking for h3ntai and weird fetishes. Anyway, it's not worth your time. Overall, I would give it a 2/10.

Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd Season

Dec 31, 2023

An average sequel to the shallow but action-packed Jujutsu Kaisen anime. Let’s get the obvious out of the way: The animation was top tier. But let’s not conflate great animation with a great anime. Now let’s go into the actual good, ok, and bad of the anime: The Good:  The first 5 or so episodes went at a nice pace and gave much needed background info about heroes and villains. Had the rest of the series kept up with the pacing, storytelling, and action of those episodes with an occasional episode-long action packed, multiple-battle fiasco, it would have been a lot... Talentless Nana

Dec 28, 2023

A unique but still average dark-themed murder drama anime.  The story is about a seemingly innocent High school girl who starts offing her classmates who all have superpowers- and could supposedly become "threats" in the future. She has to work around all of the hidden talents/superpowers to get more kills (all while juggling different personalities of immature teens). The good/ok: The plot was ok- just strung together by too much fantasy and too many coincidences. The logical explanations were sometimes cool but other times relied too heavily on fantasy and convenience. The... See full review

Steins;Gate

Dec 27, 2023

A sci-fi time travel drama about mostly annoying college kids.   ***Full disclosure: I admittedly only saw a decent chunk of the beginning*** These young adults are attempting to figure out time travel while dealing with the results of them being successful with figuring out time travel (at a future time). Sounds loopy right? It is, but it's actually not as bad as some of the other time travel sci-fi narratives I've seen. However, I don't think people watch this for time travel sci fi anyway. I think the main appeal of this anime is the lengthy drama which leads to plenty of... See full review

Blue Submarine No. 6

Dec 27, 2023

This is a slightly above average post apocalyptic war drama anime. The story is based on a pea-brained scientist who created intelligent monster-like species and has been speeding up global warming to "accommodate" the new species. This naturally leads to war and (spoiler) the humans are losing.  The good: The setting of mostly underwater war-torn cities trying to survive was really good. The technology advancement level was just the right amount.  Even though the animation was old, the action wasnt cringey My gripes: The story was basic. It wasn't terrible- just... See full review

Space Dandy

Dec 26, 2023

A space adventure comedy surrounding some lucky pervs. They search for rare aliens and items throughout the galaxy. Meanwhile, unbenounced to them, a whole military force is trying to chase them down .   I'm not sure why this doesnt have an Ecchi tag (at least at the time of writing this) because there are plenty of t:ts and a$$es bouncing around.  I liked the robot, but most of the others are annoying.  I dropped it pretty early. It's just a little too obnoxious and edgy for me.  Overall, I would say it's average (a 5/10).

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead

Dec 26, 2023

An adult parody anime about the zombie apocalypse actually saving people from their anxiety and miserably boring 9-5 lives instead of launching people into complete panic. The beginning showed a lot of toxic relationships at the workplace. There was one censored S3xual exploitation scene- which really turned me off but I pushed through in hopes of it improving.  When the zombie apocalypse happens, the MC decides to stand up for himself and do everything on his bucket list instead of taking a hard-nosed approach to survival. His optimistic personality carries the show. He gets distracted once... See full review

Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions

Dec 26, 2023

This is a pretty good detective/mystery anime. It surrounds an extremely-skilled detective, named Ron, who was banned from graduating from an elite school- due to his involvement in a serious mass-murder case. This banning leads Ron into a life of boredom. Around the same time, he begins manifesting an uncontrollable psychic manipulation ability which is used to cause people to kill themselves (but it is only triggered upon someone being found guilty of murder).  One day, a police detective of average intelligence, named Toto, demands Ron's help on a case due to his reputation. Rakshasa Street

Dec 25, 2023

An average urban fantasy action-drama about a girl discovering her psychic-based superpowers and finding purpose outside of the normal "9-5 job city life." It almost turned into a zombie vs psychic superheroes melee at times. The action is decent but repetitive. The drama is ok, just a little slow for me. The main characters are average. The plot is vague.  It's not bad but it also isn't good either. I dropped it after seeing a decent sized chunk of the anime.  Overall, I would give it a 5/10 (average).

Dec 25, 2023

A dumb superpower recruitment high school drama surrounding a piss-poor MC.  The animation is good. The comedy is weak. The MC is really toxic and dumb. He is really difficult to watch and even more difficult to root for. The other characters are mostly lame and the plot is full of unrealistic occurrences and logical holes.  I dropped it after a while. I would give it a 4/10 overall.

Dec 25, 2023

While part 1 of "The new world" felt rushed and was filled with unrealistic occurrences, part 2 completely revived my hope for Dr.Stone.  ***Warning: this is a review of just part 2 of season 2 (the last 11 episodes) If you want to see my review for just part 1 (which was worse) go here. *** ***Warning: There will be minor spoilers*** This season brought back the more grounded approach.  The good: The flow was much better and the ending didn't feel rushed at all. Dr. Stone: New World

Dec 25, 2023

This was the most unrealistic and rushed part of this series.  ***Warning: this is a review of just part 1 of season 2 (the first 11 episodes)*** ***Warning: There will be minor spoilers*** I want to preface this review by saying that I am a huge fan of Dr.Stone. I just think this was the worst part of the series- so far.  The good: Of course, I like the diversity of characters and the unique world building.  I like the comedy and the adventure that Dr.Stone always delivers on. I liked the song during the ending credits a lot. I also want to note that some of the... See full review

The Promised Neverland

Dec 24, 2023

This is a great thriller/horror anime with very cool problem solving. The setting is unique and interesting. The characters are pretty cool. The intense nature of the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat. There is a good mix of sad moments, fun moments, intense moments, etc. The plot is good and it ends on a great climax. A few unrealistic occurrences here or there, but nothing that spoils the anime. I will say that the escape was not all that complicated. I could have come up with that or many easier methods with what they had access to (and I consider myself to be of average... See full review

PSYCHO-PASS

Dec 23, 2023

A philosophical crime anime about a dystopian society. ***I watched this one a while ago, so I’ll try my best to give it an accurate review*** The animation is pretty good. The premise is pretty good but poorly executed. Here are my gripes: The philosophies of characters are flat-out stupid and hypocritical. Imagine trusting something or someone you know little-to-nothing about to make critical societal decisions for you. Predicting the future and judging someone based on what has not happened yet. Etc etc. The characters are generic and or annoying There are some Lgbtq occurrences that... See full review

Trigun: Badlands Rumble

Dec 23, 2023

A pretty good anime movie that follows a tough act (the original anime). The setting is back. The characters are great. The humor and action are good. The story is pretty good- but not the best I’ve seen. There is a plot hole in the backstory of this movie which bothered me a little- but it didn’t spoil the anime. Overall, I would give it a 7/10. Definitely worth watching if you liked the original.

Sword Art Online: Progressive Movie 1 - Aria of a Starless Night

Dec 23, 2023

An unnecessary take of the first arc from Asuna’s perspective.  Decent action and adventure... but if you’ve seen the whole anime, you already know what’s going to happen. The new friend named Mito was ok. She made a logical choice that unfortunately couldn’t be avoided. I found it unrealistic that she ghosted the whole town afterwards though. She could have easily explained her situation to Asuna, but didn’t. I found that annoying.
Anyway, overall, I would give this a 5/10. I would only recommend this for megafans of SAO.

Dec 23, 2023

An overhyped Isekai-type anime that tries to be funny with very annoying characters. The plot becomes nonsensical and drawn out.  I dropped it fairly early. I personally would give it a 3/10. Trigun

Dec 23, 2023

****I admit I am probably a little too subjective on this one*** This is one of my favorite animes ever. The story surrounds a strong MC (Vash) who gets hunted down due to the destruction that has surrounded his existence. This leads to more and more destruction which makes him more feared and hunted. There is an ok overarching plot, but it is more of a progressive adventure. The characters are good. The MC has a good heart and saves people, towns, and eventually the world. The action is good- though sometimes unrealistic for humor’s sake.  Speaking of humor, there is a lot... See full review

The Perfect Insider

Dec 23, 2023

A poorly executed puzzle mystery anime that attempts to be deeper than it is. This anime has to stretch the boundaries of realism to make it confusing and “interesting.” The plot is slow and boring. The characters are plastic molds and some are very annoying. There’s a weird one-sided age gap attraction that is very off-putting. Anyway, I dropped it off after a good chunk. Did someone say PCP? That’s right folks. Get your favorite hallucinogen out for this anime. This confusing story and trippy animation was some of the worst I’ve seen. From what I could grasp from this, the characters seemed very generic and the plot seems vague. The summary sounded ok, but there is no doubt that it was poorly executed. I dropped it after episode 2. I congratulate anyone able to get through and understand this mess.  Overall I would give it a 2/10.

The Tokyo Project

Dec 23, 2023

An average sci-fi action mystery anime that was  just too rushed and unrealistic. I feel like this could have been a pretty good full-length anime. There’s hardly any introduction to the characters. The mystery plot was predictable but well-executed.  Some of the action and mystery scenes were pretty good. The main problem with this anime movie was that it was full of unrealistic occurrences. People with serious injuries managed to do things that olympic athletes would find hard to do. A certain explosion escape was also completely unrealistic. Overall, it was just average (a... Tokyo Ghoul

Dec 23, 2023

An overhyped horror drama anime. (Yeah, I said it). It has an ok premise but a poor execution. The characters are pretty much cannibal vampires. The MC gets the powers by coincidence and becomes a “half breed.” Now he has to adjust to these powers and counter enemies while balancing his “human life.” The drama is as immature as hell and doesn’t fit the dark theme. The MC is your classic punk who makes you roll your eyes at nearly every decision he makes.  Almost all of the side characters and villains are basic or bothersome. The plot is nearly absent. The... An average action drama Isekai anime that is overhyped by many. It focuses on a young boy who leaves the real world and becomes a disciple of a rough-around-the-edges beast who happens to be talented at his own unique martial arts style. The good: The training was cool and fun to watch.  Some characters were endearing and were clearly created to drum up emotions from the viewers. Strike the Blood

Dec 23, 2023

A fantasy anime that was chewed up and spit out several times, like the cud. I am convinced that the creators were on shrooms while thinking this anime up.  It is a rare case in which the anime manages to be scattered and confusing, but at the same time slow and boring. It is a perfect example of what happens when there are no limitations to the fantasy with an already poorly thought-out plot. I dropped it early. It was a clear 1/10 overall. Skip it.

Dec 23, 2023

An average adventure anime that relies heavily on iconic characters to carry it. I will say that some of the action and racing scenes are cool and fun. The theme song is also cool and very catchy. Some of the characters are cool, while others are really annoying. Christopher is literally a token human character who adds little to know significance to the anime. The plot is loosely strung along and lacking depth. It is drawn out and full of fillers.
