Sword Art Online Movie: Ordinal Scale

Aug 12, 2020

Honestly, I don't write many reviews anymore. But for this movie, I figured I had to change that. The reason is that Sword Art Online was one of the first few anime I've seen, and it's probably the biggest example of a wasted potential I've ever experienced. The idea and the concept of SAO (along with characters that were originally compelling) pulled me in hard, but a lack of any coherent pacing or proper stakes wasted that idea. So I'll say this simply: Ordinal Scale is the SAO that SAO should have been. There's better pacing, better writing, better stakes. The action is better, the characters are... See full review

Kaguya-sama: Love Is War

Apr 4, 2020

Many people better educated than I have already stated exactly how I feel about this show so I'll just make this short. Yes, it is as good as people say. Yes, you should watch it. And yes, Chika and Ishigami have my heart's.

Sword Art Online II

Mar 16, 2020

Here's the thing. The first Sword Art Online is a perfect show for anime newbies to watch. It's got interesting characters, some decent action, and a pretty intriguing premise. But, as time goes on and you watch more shows, you realize that SAO wasn't all that you thought it was. You notice the horrible time gaps in the first arc that always seem to skip over the most interesting bits of plot, you remember how genuinely bad the Alfheim Online arc was, and how the show kind of wasted it's own premise. And that's sad, because SAO could have been so much more. But here's my apparently controversial... See full review

High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World!

Mar 2, 2020

Ok, I'll make this simple. This show is unoriginal, cliched as hell, far fetched, filled with fan service, and ridiculous... yet I found myself enjoying every minute of it.  High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World! isn't the most original show ever made, but it's thoroughly entertaining and actually has a couple of good ideas. It's a lot of ridiculous fun and the characters aren't half bad, and there's some pretty good comedy in there as well. In short, if you want some... See full review

The Rising of the Shield Hero

Jan 21, 2020

I'll come back to write a long review later, but I just finished this show a few minutes ago and I gotta say it was legitimately awesome. The action, the story, the WRITING omg, the characters and their developments, the quality of both the sub and the dub for voice acting, the amazing soundtrack and opening songs, I could go on and on. But I won't YES, IT REALLY IS THAT GOOD. NOW GO WATCH IT YOURSELF

Toradora!

Jan 14, 2020

I can only say... Wow. That was a hell of a ride. I laughed a lot, had a lot of "awww" moments, and even cried at the end. This has been hands down one of my favorite series ever, beating out any other anime or even regular television shows. The romance is well written and wholesome, the script is brilliant and funny, and the animation and characters are especially memorable. I'm no anime expert and this isn't quite a perfect show, but in my opinion, it's the closest I've found to one.  *THE REST OF THIS REVIEW CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS* The characters of this show were amazing. Taiga, Riuji... See full review

Sword Art Online

Dec 30, 2019

While it wasn't the best thing I've ever watched, SAO was an interesting concept with some pretty likeable characters. Unfortunately, horrible pacing and a pretty bad second arc kind of wasted most of the potential that made Sword Art Online such an interesting concept. While it's still worth a watch for some casual entertainment (especially for someone pretty new to anime as a starting point), it's a perfect example of wasted opportunity. The first half of SAO was objectively the best. It introduces the unique concept and our main cast, and the first 13 or so episodes had me gripped the most. That being... See full review
