I keep coming back to this anime,,,,I want to say its a comforting watch but the story isnt't necessarily a light one. It deals with very real problems teens of the 1960's experienced, and yet it doesn't feel like a drama either? To describe it as a 'slice of life' anime feels like an understatment as well--you will have to just watch it yourself to understand the impact of it i guess haha.
Sentarō has to be one of my favorite characters in all the anime I've watched, and I understand that this story might be notorious for the shipping ofhim and Kaoru (which is very much real,,,,gay undertones i mean) but even if you didn't see the chemistry there: the friendship between them is one that I believe anyone could envy and be enthralled by. These very real characters paired with some catchy jazz tunes makes this a must watch for any coming of age fanatic:)
