$20 is giving it too much credit xD. The artists probably didn't get paid enough for bottled water by the time the series had came to an end.

And yes, that's a trait that is sadly becoming more popular as time drags on. Films like 'Battleship' and 'Ronin 47' (or whatever it was called) are really guilty of this. In fact, the action genre in general seem to moving towards this (with the exception of Pacfic Rim, which was a lot of fun with both its characters and action, even if the Eva comparisons were off the charts). That's also another reason why I think Avatar is not just a great show in general, but a great show for children, especially girls, because it shows female characters who are kind, strong, girly or tomboy and portrays all of those traits in a positive light, showing girls that it doesn't matter who they are or what they like, they should try and be the best that they can be but not be afraid to show their weaknesses as well.

I have a deep love for Ahiru (also, Princess Tutu review coming up soon! :D). Everytime she is onscreen, I just want to squeeze her tightly because she's such a great character and role model for little girls. I just wanna eat her up xD I have a huge soft spot for the magical girl genre. There are so many excellent magical girl series that people are put off by simply because of the genre. I love sailor moon, cardcaptor sakura, princess tutu, Madoka Magica and Magical girl Lyrical Nanoha. They all have wonderful characters that never fail to make smile and want to hug them.

I'm just gonna say it up front; yanderes have never appealed to me. Don't get me wrong, I think the premise of them is interesting, the idea that their love for someone has sent them mad, but there needs to be more than that to them. Yuno from Mirai Nikki is quite possibly one of the laziest written characters I've ever seen. She has little to no personality or appeal outside of just being a yandere and her reason were fairly flimsy as well. While I've seen tsundere's written well and given more than just that archetype or explaining why they feel the way they do (like you said, Taiga is fantastic), I've rarely seen an interesting or well written yandere. Maybe they exist and I just haven't been watching the right shows but they just bore me rather than shock me because they have no other characteristics other than their pshyco love and I really don't see the sexual appeal in them either (then again, I'm not a guy so I can't really say much). And I have a massive weakness for Danderes.

And all I do in my games development class now is look up TvTropes xD. And I also plan to use the line 'Oh it should be illegal to be dat fine!' in my everyday life now (also, I heard a girl behind me on the bus having a loud conversation the other day and she said to her friend '... I mean, what if I get sick?' and all I could think of was 'Y'know what I'm sick of? All your sh*t, Haru!'xD).

Well... I just had my birthday on the 21st of January which I turned 23.

23 is Number One!

I don't think my birthday is going to be celebrated but that's fine... I went and hanged out with a friend on my birthday and my friend and I saw The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug which she treated me to see it. I cannot disclose the name but she is like a sister to me. I personally loved the movie and without giving anything plot-wise away. I was greatly impressed with Smaug and I remember reading the book where he just talked and boasted. The movie makes him more serious which I don't think is a bad thing to say the least. I know Peter Jackson has been taking great liberties with his adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's Literary Classic. I personally have no problems with it so far. I just wish some people would stop complaining about how "dragged out" the first one was... I think the first movie was building up for the second one, same goes to Smaug which he was built up...BIG TIME. My only huge concern is that third movie, but seeing as how Peter Jackson has not disappointed with adapting Tolkien's material. I think the Hobbit finale is in good hands.

In other news, Since 1999... I started watching the NFL thanks to my late father and i have been a Seattle Seahawks fan for 15 years. The Super Bowl last night was a very special game where the Seahawks won their first Super Bowl. My late grandfather passed away two years before the Seahawks made their first Super Bowl appearance but did lose that one to the Steelers which was my late Grandpa's other favorite team. My late father passed away two years before the Seahawks won their first Super Bowl. I lived to see it happen. I get the feeling I'll stick around a lot longer to see it happen again. I am having a good year so far.

If I'm not mistaken, it is canon in the manga. And I agree, we needed more of the other characters rather than shinji telling us how we already know he feels for the hundrenth time. And the budget cuts for the original Eva look all the more cheap when you look at the rebuild films. There's back to back screenshots on tumblr and the improvement in quality is just incredible (while the last two episodes of the originalcan be blamed on the budget of pocket lint and spare paperclips xD).

And I really hate that as well. I hate so-called 'feminists' (who really don't deserve to call themselves by that title) who insist that all female characters must be superior to men in every way and stronger in every way. That's a load of crap. A strong woman, be it physically or intellectually, does not necessarily make a strong character. Women don't have to be 'strong', but they do need to be interesting. We need more women who are unsure, who get scared, who are crybabys but push on anyway, who are kind or funny or even just diabolical. Again, one of the reasons avatar is so great, Azula is fantastically written villian because she's smart, cunning and yet still has her obsession with perfection with caused her downfall due to her father's expectations and the fact that she thought she could never gain the love of her mother. That's a beautifully written character! More of that, please!

The same can be said with heroines. You can make them complex or likeable or both! Hell, Ahriu from Princess Tutu is probably one of my favourite anime heroines of all time because, while she may not be massively complex, she's just so likeable and admirable and adorable due to her kindness and happiness even when people think she's simple. Winry from FMA is another great example; she's a brilliant mechanic who's always trying her best, and has her weaknesses but is determined not to let them outshine her strengths. That's probably another reason I loved Gou from Free! so much as well; she was a determined little sweetheart who tries her hardest to make her brother happy, not because she has a creepy 'oni-chan' type crush on him, but because she loves him deeply and knows he wants to be with his friends.

I feel like a lot of anime recently has been relying on the tsundere or yandere stereotypes as a substitute for depth or character. The reasons why the female characters in black lagoon come off as much stronger than something like high school of the dead is that they refuse to conform to stereotypes; they have reasons for being the way they are and, despite their skimpy clothes, their personality and mannerisms are so strong that they outright refuse to be sexualised, unlike high school of the dead which just takes a bunch of harem stereotypes and does nothing else with them and those weak personalities makes it all too easy for them to be romantisized to fit the make otaku criteria, hence their sexualization. The same can be said of Asuna.

And yes, adventuresofacomicbookgirl is awesome :D I mean, I don't agree with everything she says but she is an excellent writer and a perceptive thinker.

And also, WE HAVE REI'S VOICE IN 50% OFF. AND IT IS GLORIOUS. AND WE NEED MORE NAGISA AND REI. AND THEY SHOT THE HARU THAT COULD READ. I'M DYING.
