Hmm, anime-wise I'd be surprised if we have so many that are missing - MAL does add a few types of entries that we don't consider anime, and thus won't add (for example, audio dramas, interviews with seiyuu, etc). The only other main thing we don't have up is hentai, for a bit of an outdated reason (and there's no ETA on when we'd have hentai in the database as adding that feature would take awhile).

To see which anime failed, go back to your list, then click the import button, and there should be a table of all the times you've tried to import. Click the timestamp of the import, and youll see a few filter links - click the 'failed' link to see which anime failed import. If it's longer than a few titles, you can email them to me at webmaster [at] anime-planet [dot] com. The manga imports will show up as separate imports so you can click the timestamp there too to see that list. MAL does list a lot of content we don't put up because of the same kind of consistency - for example, we don't list doujinshi, or one shots that are included as part of a larger volume alongside a main/unrelated story (we add the one shot name to the manga instead). MAL does this for some titles but not consistently - same with mangaupdates too, though

There may be some anime in there, too, that we list the series differently - we try to be really consistent about how we list anime and sometimes that doesn't fully match up with other sites, so it could be that we have 1 entry (twice as long) instead of 2 entries, etc ^_^

Also, indeed, characters are missing from a bunch of manga - this is because the character database is the newest of all databases XD only about 2 years old. We only add content if moderated/confirmed as info quality is #1 importance here, and so characters get added, albeit slowly depending on if a moderator has seen/read it or not. For an example of how badass the characters can get here, check out the One Piece anime, there's over 500 characters, all with hand-written descrips and hand taken images XD

Completeness-wise, I assume you mean manga? The manga database is a lot newer than the anime database (manga added ~3 years ago, but the anime database has been around for the full 11 years of the site). So we're still working on filling things in ^_^
