At the point of writing this, I have read a total of 274 chapters of Berserk and it almost pains me to say this, but, while it is a good manga, I dont consider it as amazing and unrivaled as many manga fans do.

Dont get me wrong, I would not call it average or even above average, its very good, the main characters such as Guts, Griffith, Casca and some of the side characters like Serpico, Skull Knight and Isidro are great, especially Guts and Griffith, but apart from the Eclipse and some fights here and there, most notably the ones where Guts wields the Berserk Armor, were very fun to read through, but nothing that knocked me off my socks.

I get its not really about fighting itself, but more so about Guts' development and him living with the desire to both exact revenge and protect the ones he cares about and the inner conflict that arises from that, but I really dont see how this manga is praised THAT much by so many people.

The reason I started reading it was because multiple Anitubers had this in their top 5, some even as their undisputed No.1 Manga of all time, so naturally after hearing so much about it, I went ahead and checked it out for myself, expecting nothing but sheer, borderline perfection.

As you can see from this review, I am left a bit disapointed, as Berserk, so far, didnt really have me all too invested in the story, aside from a few interesting interactions from different characters with Skull Knight and some of Guts' monolgues.

Rest assured that I will come back to this review after completing the around 90 chapters that I have yet to read, maybe my ratings will have changed by then.

Alright I am now caught up with everything up until Chapter 362 and I have changed my mind on this manga.

The Fantasia arc so far has been so real and hard hitting its insane, Guts and Casca ''reuniting'' was depressing to read, honestly.

That just shows how well written these characters are and how good the writing and depth actually is, once you look back at everything.

Getting more of the lore was also refreshing, especially the hints as to what happened to Skull Knight had me quaking and I'm now desperatly hoping that a new chapter comes out in the next few weeks.
