Top 50 Anime

In Order
1 Hunter x Hunter (2011)

Hunter x Hunter (2011)

Togashi's magnum opus. An utter flex by the GOAT himself, having the best MC, Antagonist, Arc and scene by far. Nothing but love for this borderline perfect series.

10/10

2 Samurai Champloo

Samurai Champloo

Episodic series are always hit or miss, as every new episode is like a new series in itself, so imagine how happy I was watching this series, where at most 1-2 episodes were ''just'' good and the rest were fantastic. Legendary OST by the man Nujabes.

9/10

3 Girls' Last Tour

Girls' Last Tour

The underdog! Climbed its way into my Top 3 after being initially placed outside the Top 10. Superb series, such a phenomenal vibe. I get that nothing really happens, but who said thats a bad thing. I think it shows how good of a writer someone is when they can make the mundane as enticing as this.

9/10

4 Laid-Back Camp

Laid-Back Camp

Peace of mind. Its a ''dumb and simple'' series about cute girls going camping, but my goodness does it absolutely nail the vibe that an Iyashikei anime should have. My deepest respect to the author, stories like these are a rare treasure.

9/10

5 Violet Evergarden

Violet Evergarden

Beautiful. So serene, calming, sad. Its great, I love this series dearly. Violet is one of the best characters I've witnessed ever. Kudos to Kyoto Animation for making it look as good.

9/10

6 Gintama

Gintama

Despite not being finished with this series, both Gintoki and Gintama itself have cemented themselves as abolute classics in my heart. I urge you to check this anime out if you like slapstick comedy mixed with battle shounen elements and very emotional scenes.

9/10

7 Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Who doesnt know this anime? Might be clichee to have this as high, but what can I say? One of my first anime, and even after several rewatches, its still one of my absolute favorites.

9/10

8 Death Note

Death Note

Another legendary entry. Light and L are truly one of the most fascinating duos ever and I applaud Ohba and Obata for creating this timeless classic.

9/10

9 Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Over the top, vibrant, wholesome. By far the best mecha anime, boasting some of the best fight scenes in anime and one of the greatest side characters with Kamina. Since its Trigger the animation is obviously also up to par to say the least. So far ahead of its time.

9/10

10 Clannad After Story

Clannad After Story

I really wasnt the biggest fan of og Clannad, but that was before I knew that it was just the prologue/setup for After Story. To say this broke me would be a massive understatement, I bawled like a bitch while watching this, especially during the 2nd half (one of the best spans of episodes since the Chimera Ant Arc). An absolute masterpiece.

9/10

11 Made in Abyss

Made in Abyss

The single best soundtrack in anime, unforgettable visuals and it really leaves you wanting more, as Made in Abyss knows how to set future events up, how to create an intriguing world of adventure and horror alike and especially how to capture your full attention. Season 2 blew away all the expectations I had, what a phenomenal adaptation that was.

9/10

12 Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop

Not only a great cast, great ending and dope atmosphere, but also a legendary soundtrack that'll stick with you for a long time. This series will leave a lasting impression on you.

9/10

13 Mob Psycho 100

Mob Psycho 100

Everything you like about One Punch Man gets amplified by 20 in Mob Psycho 100, plus you have a way better MC. Bones nailed the artstyle, ONE comes in clutch and proves that he is a dope writer, and the end-result is the perfect mix of slice of life and a battle shounen.

8/10

14 Yu Yu Hakusho

Yu Yu Hakusho

Top tier cast, 2 of the best antagonists in Toguro and Sensui and just an overall joy to watch. Togashi just knows how to mix action and dark, real themes. For being a 90s anime, it also has suprisingly good animation.

8/10

15 Mushishi

Mushishi

While S2 didnt have this special feeling to it as S1 did, the franchise is still one of the best out there. Episodic in nature (no pun intended), every episode delivers a bittersweet story, acompanied by one of the greatest soundtracks I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.

8/10

16 A Place Further Than the Universe

A Place Further Than the Universe

Maybe the biggest surprise in my time of watching anime, I really didnt expect this seemingly boring slice of life anime to be so enjoyable and touching. MADHOUSE back at it.

8/10

17 Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan

Its crazy what Isayama did with this series. You can think of WIT vs MAPPA whatever you want, the story is great regardless of who adapts it. Besides, I'd rather have S4 animated by MAPPA, than this series ending after S3 (which would have happened).

8/10

18 Ergo Proxy

Ergo Proxy

Took me a very attentive rewatch to fully understand what was going on, but that was so worth it. Vincent Law, Re-L and Pino are such a fun trio and the ending has a very weirdly motivating feel to it. Should you want to watch this, be prepared to be very confused.

8/10

19 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind

Really enjoyed the watch, cast is super good, fights are great, David Prod. nailed the classic Araki artstyle. No apparent flaws, but its overall just not as good as those above it, simple as that.

8/10

20 Vinland Saga

Vinland Saga

I thought Thorfinn alone was great but then Askeladd proved to be even greater. Incredibly adaptation by WIT, simply super enjoyable to sit through.

8/10

21 Super Cub

Super Cub

Iyashikei continues to be my favorite type of anime. Absolutely stunning atmosphere, the character dynamics are natural and fun to watch, it puts a smile on your face no matter what.

8/10

22 One Outs

One Outs

Idk who thought it would be dope to combine Death Note and Baseball, but this person needs a medal. Tokuchi's mindgames are a joy to watch and although its somewhat the same concept for every arc, it does NOT get old whatsoever.

8/10

23 Naruto Shippuden

Naruto Shippuden

I will admit, I'm not a fan of the ending, nor of many things that were done in the span of the series, but its Naruto. Legendary, I grinded this in 3 weeks and had the time of my life, so I will gladly look past some glaring flaws.

8/10

24 Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou

While it doesnt compare to the manga, I can respect the adaptation. With its beautiful OST and entrancing scenery, its a pleasure to watch, being a huge fan of the original manga myself.

8/10

25 Steins;Gate

Steins;Gate

Immersive, exciting and funny. Amazing blend of comedy and seriousness, kept you wanting more episode after episode and the payoff was crazy good. Definitely a classic.

8/10

26 Black Lagoon

Black Lagoon

DO YOU SEE HOW MUCH ATMOSPHERE MATTERS? Absolutely fabulous atmosphere man, truly. I felt like I was part of the world at all times. The comedy is on point, the action is great, the opening is cool, but it can be deep as well, which I appreciate greatly.

8/10

27 Kaiba

Kaiba

Wow. Even with the slightly rushed pacing, watching this story unfold, taking in the extraordinary animation and enjoying the wonderful OST was honestly a fantastic experience. The plot starts off strong and keeps steadily increasing until the great finale.

8/10

28 Mononoke

Mononoke

A huge surprise. I had seen clips and was enticed by the unique artstyle, but I had no idea how great the anime itself was going to be. The last 3 episodes were amazingly directed, the Soundtrack is one to behold and despite being a rather quiet character, the MC is really interesting.

8/10

29 School Babysitters

School Babysitters

Its so clear to see why someone would like this I mean the little kids look so adorable and the entire show focuses on their adorablesness more than anything. On top of that you basically get to see two traumatized brothers heal through their environment, how could you not love that?

8/10

30 Haibane Renmei

Haibane Renmei

A masterclass on how to do slice of life. Incorporating mystery aspects was definitely something new, but i enjoyed every second of it. The last 2 episodes felt great, wonderful conclusion, that lovely feeling of melancholy and positivity really is something.

8/10

31 Fate/Zero

Fate/Zero

Kiritsugu and Kirei carried this show haaard holy shit. S1 was good, S2 picked up the pace with Kiritsugus backstory and then just said fuck it, lets bring out the big guns. Phenomenal ending, the fight was so enjoyable.

8/10

32 Soul Eater

Soul Eater

Shitty ending, the rest is literally so damn good. It needs a reboot. The main trio is super fun, Crona has to be one of the most underrated characters ever, Asura was a hauntingly menacing antagonist (except for the last few episodes) and BONES, as always, delivered fantastic visuals.

8/10

33 The Tatami Galaxy

The Tatami Galaxy

Yet another surprise! The ending elevated this for sure, super fitting and fun conclusion to a great (and unique!) show. Highly recommend it if youre currently in or have been in college/university for the extra relatability. Oh and the subtitles are super fast.

8/10

34 Ping Pong The Animation

Ping Pong The Animation

Cursed be those who belittle this show due to its artstyle. Yes, its not for everyone, but c'mon, the story is still great regardless of the art. Fun, motivational, real, youre truly missing out if the art is the only reason youre not watching this.

8/10

35 JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders

Its one of those simple ones again. What can I say man, I do love myself some classic asskicking, which is exactly what JoJo's Part 3 excels in. Dont think however, that this Season cant get emotional, because it can. But yeah its more of a straight-forward type of show.

8/10

36 Psycho-Pass

Psycho-Pass

S1 was IT, S2 left a bit to be desired. But, S1 did give us Makishima and a great societal conflict. Very fun and engaging to watch, major respect for making the scenery so immersive.

8/10

37 Castlevania

Castlevania

This is how a dark fantasy should look like. Really amazing visuals, Adrian is one hell of a character, Isaac is dope, Trevor too of course. Overall great series with top tier animation and a fairly simple, but engaging story.

8/10

38 House of Five Leaves

House of Five Leaves

Its something about the atmosphere that intrigues me more than it probably should. The lowkey scenery, hypnotic OST and fairly mundane plot just work super well together.

8/10

39 March Comes in like a Lion

March Comes in like a Lion

WHOLESOME! Really shows how much family matters, especially for young kids and teenagers/young adults. Might not be a ''fun'' anime, but it doesnt try to be anyway, just appreciate the message.

8/10

40 Bungo Stray Dogs

Bungo Stray Dogs

Praise BONES for putting some of the LN material into this adaptation. The first 4 episodes of S2 are reason enough to put this on here, dont get me started on the rest. Good combination of humor and action, Dazai is so fun to watch but also fascinating to learn more about as the episodes go on.

8/10

41 The Devil is a Part-Timer!

The Devil is a Part-Timer!

I dont care what anyone says, the joke didnt get old and neither did the jokes not land. Personally, I would say this is one of, if not the best anime in the comedy category along with Gintama. Very excited for S2!

8/10

42 One-Punch Man

One-Punch Man

S2 really didnt get the proper treatment at all, but I didnt mind that too much. Yes, S1 obviously knocked it outta the park with all those crazy scenes, but still, OPM is a dope series regardless of its animation.

8/10

43 Death Parade

Death Parade

Glad that it didnt stick to just being a ''game'' type show, but chose to expand into a more ''behind the scenes'' one, especially towards the end with Decim and all. Speaking of which, those last 2 episodes really nailed down the fact that this is a great show (not that there was any doubt in my mind, but yeah).

8/10

44 Baccano!

Baccano!

Fun, very fun infact. Sucessful execution of a multi-protagonist series, very good humor (thanks to Isaac and Miria) and the anime is neither too long nor too short.

8/10

45 Serial Experiments Lain

Serial Experiments Lain

Truly a complex plot, very out there in terms of ideas and it will require at least one re-watch. That being said I did enjoy the confusion thoroughly, Lain is a very intriguing MC, the opening is among the best ever and the artstyle is especially good.

8/10

46 Flying Witch

Flying Witch

One of those anime that make you feel warm on a cold winter morning. Very pure and wholesome, very calm and uneventful, which I adore. Surprisingly good worldbuilding and some really beautiful cinematogragphy here and there. I await S2 someday!

7/10

47 Bakemonogatari

Bakemonogatari

To this day (without having rewatched any Monogatari Part) still my favorite Part. I dont know if its because it was my introduction to the series or whatever, but each arc (except Tsubasa Cat) was a joy to sit through. Great comedy, 10/10 visuals, incredible OST, its just a super fun show.

7/10

48 Hellsing Ultimate

Hellsing Ultimate

Definitely not the most nuanced Series, but thats ok. Sometimes you just need some good ol' badass action, and if thats the case, Hellsing Ultimate is easily one of the best when it comes to that.

7/10

49 Space Dandy

Space Dandy

While I was expecting more from this show, seeing how Shinichiro Watanabe's previous episodic works (Bebop & Champloo) are both sitting in my Top 15, but I won't complain. Amazing visuals by BONES, loved the weird and abstract nature of each episode.

7/10

50 The Promised Neverland

The Promised Neverland

By far the best arc in the series (the anime), good adaptation too. Really liked how the viewer got introduced to the world as a whole. Very solid cast, Isabella being the obvious pick for best character here, Ray a close 2nd.
