Fairy Tail

Sericae's avatar
Apr 3, 2019

The animation is okay. The characters are made to be very lovable. Sometimes to the point at which they are kind of annoying, like Lucy and Natsu. There is some good character development, like Gajeel. The message and story of Fairy Tail could be summarized as, "My Little Pony on steroids." Lots of Fairy Tail's enemies become their friends. The plot is incredibly predictable, but it is still entertaining to watch. There are some funny scenes. Also, there is a bunch of fan-service, which I find distasteful. In short, it's a pretty mediocre anime.

Disclaimer: Might contain some spoilers. Date a Live III is third season of Date a Live (no shit), and honestly, it's the best one so far. Until this time, characters felt too moe like, but in this season, characters feel more like.. people, story is more complex, which will leave your brain blown, with the great characters, awesome looking animation, and beautiful voice acting, it creates a very good combination. Definitely worth seeing, but i deeply recommend watching first two seasons first. Story: It's very difficult to say something about the story without spoilers, but i'll try my... See full review

Clannad Movie

Summary Okay, so Clannad, the movie. Basically, it was covering over Clannad and Clannad: After Story in an hour in a half. There were some nice added scenes, but overall, this was nothing, I say nothing, compared to the Clannad Series. It didn't have the same beautiful setup, and it just didn't seem... genuine. Of course, the characters were easily identifiable. However, there were many characters missing from the story as a whole, and that kind of threw off the entire movie. Not to mention, the roles were even reversed and jumbled from the way we know and love it. Somehow, Sunohara is now the... See full review

No. 6

CrimsonCyclo's avatar
Apr 3, 2019

It's honestly hard to pinpoint the overall quality of No. 6, enough to where I write this review 1 week after finishing it. Having time pass, I've made my conclusion: for an anime that falls short of greatness, it brought enough along the ride that made it worth the trip.

Story:

FULL DISCLAIMER - No. 6 is tagged as a shounen-ai series, which is somewhat true but also a misnomer. Though  romance (a term loosely-used here) is a factor, it's not an overly showy profession akin to a show like Love Stage. It may be a dealbreaker to some interested in seeing this show, but from my... See full review

Toua Tokuchi is literally the perfect MC. He is just so badass you can't help but love him! He is not your typical protagonist - he is super smart, genius even, shrouded with mystery, and can make you cower with his stare. His character makes up for what the anime itself is lacking. The anime could have been way better if there were more interesting characters, showed a glimpse of Tokuchi's backstory, and what not. It's a shame that this amazing anime did not have a season 2, because it totally deserves one or many more seasons at that! Highly recommended!

Ultraman

My son's and are are Big Godzilla fans and I have the original Japanese Live action Ultra man, so I was hyped.  Boring, slow and dull are the 3 adjectives I'd use to describe the show.  They mention Kaiju monsters but have none in it.  Ultraman never grows.  There's not even a good love story.  All the characters are boring.  The animation was weird and distracting.  Evaluating it based on all the anime I have seen its a two, based on the fact I'm a fan of Kaiju and Ultraman its a zero.

When anime is made that targets a certain audience it seems to have a mixed reaction; this, of course, if it does reach its intended audience. Ultimately, though, what is the difference between one within the 'shounen' genre and another? People seem to appreciate longer-running series, it seems, which makes sense considering one develops impressions over so many episodes, but they may also simply like remakes/completely adapted series, of which the latter is also sensible, but this seems 'whole' too, despite its short length.

It is, though, typical of this genre... so, what's the difference, yet... See full review

Romance, one of the genres that made me wonder why I kept getting here. Strangely, I really enjoyed this genre. I watch thriller because I want to feel a high tension for its genre. I watch mystery because I want to act as a third character who tries to solve a twist. But, why am I watching romance? Does nobody want me in reality? Well, it’s really simple. Romance is a kind of genre you really want to feel an emotion in yourself. Even though you don’t have anyone, romance is the most powerful genre of all. On the other hand, “Toradora!” is one of the perfect anime in describing this... See full review

Having just finished watching several anime where you have to wait until the end of the 12 episode series for the confession I was pleasantly surprised for the dramatic change of pace to 3 different confessions in the first 12 minute episode. Indeed my main fear after the first 2 episodes is how on earth was I going to be able to remember all the different characters and relationships that occur during this 12 episode series and how was the show ever going to sufficently resolve all of the arcs. The truth is that for some of the relationships or confessions there is no set resolution. And by no means... See full review

Looking forward to season 2.  Yes there are some typical cliches but it has a lot of good character development, doesn't rely heavly on the Harem part.  He actually grows on his own at times but needs help from the ladies.  It was more what is going to happen next, which way are they going to take this.  It left me wanting more.

I honestly and completely LOVED this show! Wether it being from the cute little animations and spats between Chise and Elias or the serious plot. The main reason I love this so much is the Art Design. I couldn't get enough! It was so beautiful and the characters themselves are amazing! I love Elias' design. I honestly loved everything about it! The ending was really nice and wholesome to. The only thing I don't like is the "climax" of this story line kinda came out of no where. It was almost like there was a plot? But no set in stone "goal" you may call it. The climax kind of poppped out... See full review

I'll make this short and sweet. 3 episodes in; It's tacky but entertaining. No spoilers ahead. The story is alright with alright characters. But both fairly bland. All characters apart from "police girl" are fairly one-dimensional. The shows don't employ cheap tactics to keep you watching. I find myself wanting to know what happens next. Now I know what I'm gonna refer to is not anime, but if you ever watched "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", I'm getting the same vibes from this show. Dho this show is a lot less tacky than that. If you’re looking for some hilarious and explicit BL to fill a void then you’ve come to the right place.  I’m not sure what I was expecting when I went in to this but I certainly wasn’t expecting to laugh as much as I did.  The characters are instantly likeable and although it’s so short the pacing and flow just works and leaves you with the strange feeling of being both fulfilled and left wanting more.  A must watch for anyone into comedy yaoi titles. :)

At first I was sceptical, prolly same boring story super op off the back no storyline complete harem. Non of that. I watched the first ep, Got me enraged, Had to continue to find out more. Mc kept going down hill further and further till he almost reached a breaking point. Everything changed the more he adventured. Even with all odds and people againct him his will was strong. The plot for this one felt like it was a laid back plot. Almost feels like it's a filler movie, didn't have much action, but was more about the journey and the bond between the digimon and the Destined. Animation was once again awesome in this movie. Had some great new techniques that were used for Chocomons powers. Sound wise was ok, couldn't get into any of the music really and the in movie music seemed to be some sort of western esque music. Characters meshed together well, at least the originals that we know. Took some time to get used to Wallace/Willis and Gummymon/Terriermon. The Golden Digimentals... See full review

Plot for this one was a great plot. Instead of the main battle and situation taking place on the digital world it takes place in the real world, only looking through a computer. Still has the main characters and what not, just a slightly different playing field. I liked this plot a lot. It felt like a real situation, even though it wasn't, but something that could happen. Animation for this movie was awesome! Had the older style that I like along with what looks like early CGI (computer world and battles). Those combinations made this anime great. You'll find a certain consistency in the reviews for this show. You have wierd 10s, likely from young ones just getting their feet wet in anime that still have rose colored glasses. Then you have the veterans giving it 5-7s, describing this as very generic rippoff of things that have come before. If you want a real feel for the show, read some of these reviews. Its watchable and mildly entertaining if you know its bad going in and just want to kill some time. However, if your looking for good anime, move along.

At first glance, this anime and the title may not look like much, but it’s surprisingly good.  It’s sweet, cute, charming, funny, and a simple slice of life drama but there’s hidden layers and cleverness too.  You might almost think that’s what pets might be thinking when they do what they do.  It might not be such a far fetched way of thinking.  If nothing else, it can be said, pets have a positive effect on life.   There are moments, when Haru looks like she’s causing trouble or being a nuisance, but she has her reasons which are curiously logical... This story is absolutley incredible and this has become one of my favorite anime! In the begining it has a pretty common premise of an average person being summoned into a fantasy themed world, but they add in the save point factor, which is whenever Subaru dies he is respawned at his last save point with all his memories including his (usually extremely brutal) death and the deathes of the people around him. Except the last couple of episodes. In the theatre community we have a saying regarding musicals to the effect of "make sure you end with your best song" because the last song / episode is going to be the one people walk away thinking about, this anime leaves me thinking "why did i just waste 20 minutes" because it finished with not one but TWO RECAP episodes!

People are different so there is a good chance that I will not like what you love. Deal with it. I'm not telling you that you should hate it too, I'm telling you why I didn't like it. I'll try to keep swearing to a minimum but fail utterly on occasion. In general it is the more the anime pisses me off the more I swear so watch out for the low scored ones.
Art: Art is fine, it does what it needs to do and that is to... See full review

I would give this a perfect score if it wasn’t that I expected almost every outcome in the end. I believe that the creator wanted us to know what was going to happen, but it would have been way better if they somehow made the reader/viewer clueless to anything.

SPOILERS!!!: Story I got hooked when I started the anime. I am a musician myself (actually being a current pianist, and an ex-violinest). It started off really well. A boy with a heartbreaking back story of a child wiith a loving mother only wanting the best for her son, turned abusive after she got ill and started wanting her own dream a reality, rather than his. Music has emotion in it. People who have never played an instrument, or cared, might not be as into this anime.  Around the 10th episode, I started to lose interest. It was too repetitive, and quite borish. I decided... See full review
