Eve: Bokura Mada Underground

Inu230's avatar
Feb 11, 2019

“Do you have any regrets?”   You shouldn’t have any about watching this. This music video is an explosive treat for the eyes. In a world that’s more than it first appears two partners in crime walk, run, bike, climb, stand and sit. The animation is top notch, from the sky to the sidewalks. The music’s fast and upbeat while the lyrics are a yearning; the boy wishes to be with the girl as they were in the past and also for a better life. Pretty basic theme, there’s more underground than can be seen from the surface and the animators put their all on the... See full review

Clannad After Story

Herohades's avatar
Feb 11, 2019

So here you are. You've made it through the first season of Clannad, the infamous destroyer of the human heart, and you're not really sure what the fuss is about. Little do you know, Clannad was just the warm up round for the true challenge: Clannad After Story.  I am, of course, exagerating quite a bit. Clannad is more of a show to fondly look back at the memories of than its reputation would lead you to believe. Although I will certainly admit it will push your emotional connection with the characters, it does so more for the sake of a good story than for shock value, and that makes it infinitely... Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day

Herohades's avatar
Feb 11, 2019

We all get to that point in our lives when we enjoy watching a show for the emotional impact the show has on us, a fact that has made shows like Clannad and Plastic Memories so popular. Anohana aims to become part of that genre, but unfortunately "Look how sad we are, everyone" is the only string to its bow. And due to previously established protocol for these reviews, thats not enough to base a show around.  The show tells the story of a group of kids that once hung out together all the time, until one of the members of the group dies, leading to the whole group becoming more and more... Been watching Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto over the past couple of days (09 - 10/02/19) and I havent laughed so hard at an anime in a LONG time. Its hilarious! While it has no real plot to tell until the last two episodes, each episode has a couple of mini plots that are really fun to watch and help give some sort of personality to the characters. I can certainly see myself coming back to this one in the future when I need a good laugh. Would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys anime that dont take themselves too seriously and are just there to have fun (there are also a few heartfelt feel good moments... See full review

Bayonetta: Bloody Fate

Stimpak's avatar
Feb 10, 2019

Just finished watching (08/02/19) Bayonetta: Bloody Fate. Personally would only recommend this one if you are already a fan of Bayonetta like myself, as it streamlines the story a little too much I feel, and the most it does better than the original in game story is add a couple of extra details at points. However if you are just looking for a fun action anime to watch to kill an hour and a half then I would certainly give this one a try.

I held up Kakegurui for a while because I didn't like the theme of gambling since I really don't understand Jokers, Chips, Queens, Full houses etc. But when I finally got to watching this even I could understand it and I loved every plot twist when Yumeko was playing a gamble. This. Anime. Is. Full. Of. Surprises.

Story :  The story didn't really make sense because there was no goal or proper ending. There were some events or arcs but nothing out fo the ordinary, just a girl gambling to her hearts content.  Animation : The animation for this anime was REALLY good, I especially liked... See full review

FLCL: Progressive

captanmurdoc's avatar
Feb 10, 2019

FLCL Progressive is the sequel to the much beloved FLCL from nearly 2 decades earlier. I went into it partially skeptical but with high hopes. Progressive follows a similar formula to the original and while it falls short in some areas it excels in others.

The Story can be hard to follow but that is to be expected of any FLCL title. It was crafted well, told in a similar style to the original however, the story focuses more on the galactic war between Medical Mechanica and the Fraternity instead of the interactions between the characters. Due to the disjointed nature of the FLCL series this leads to... See full review

Digimon Movie 1: Digimon Adventure

JadedDragos's avatar
Feb 10, 2019

I loved watching this. First off it is an origin movie, I recall seeing this in the first run Digimon series. I love how it was expanded and explained how the main characters knew about Digimon in the series. Animation was great! It was what I am in love with, old style animation. Bold lines, darker themes, and almost realistic art. Sound was great as well. No opening theme, but the ending theme is pretty good. In story music I feel like I've heard it somewhere else, just can't recall, but is also good. Characters in this one I think interacted well even though it is only the digimon, and the brother and... Feb 10, 2019

I watched this one with not ever seen a Pokemon movie, series or special. So now that I have finished it, I can say it was a good watch. It had a straight forward plot and later I found out was a mash up origin movie or sorts. Even with it being an origin story though I did like how the story moved along and finished. Animation was good, very nice battles scenes and when it came to mood changes, it was shown very well in dark and light tones and/or shadowing for those particular moods. Sound was great. In story music was very crisp and clear, the opening and ending themes were good as well. Now I can see... See full review

Girls Last Tour features two young girls, Chito and Yuuri, whom slowly weld their way into your heart as you get to know them and follow them along on their journey. Despite how hopeless and desolate their situation is, they don't give up and continue forward, fighting to survive and hold onto hope that perhaps they'll discover something different up ahead.  Despite the depressing premise, it's not a story that's overtly intense or action-packed. Kiznaiver

Feb 9, 2019

No major spoilers... yay!Kiznaiver was an okay anime. It has a pretty short but slow story that I think focuses on character development a bit too much. I loved the character design for the main characters, and the sound was okay. With the first tag being drama, you can expect it to have a lot of drama, but the drama only starts towards the end. It also lists sci-fi and psychological as genres, but there wasn't as much of those as other anime. So I guess you can say that Kiznaiver is 90% drama.

Feb 9, 2019

I would not be able to explain this show in one word, its just too obserd. Without going into too much detail, this is a stop motion animation about a woolly pink monster (The King of Terror) and a mech suit (The Savior) looking for humans on an apocolyptic planet after putting their differences aside. The story kind of plays along like a '90s kaiju sci fi with intense fight scenes and special effects and has a slight twist to the story at the end. The animation is very good for stop motion and manages to capture the intensity of whats going on at the time. Stop motion can go wrong in so many ways... See full review

I wanted to continue my Tiger & Bunny kick and I'm happy I was able to watch this one. It was a little better than the series, who are we kidding it was just as good. Takes place after the end of the series with a pretty straight forward plot. More action and a little more drama. =-) Animation was so much better, the opening credits was a good change from what I had already seen and also introduces the newest character into it as well. While I`m biased since I don`t like harem anime, I thought this was a formulaic series with nothing much special going for it. There`s little to be interested at here besides Ryo-ohki, who is a sweet and cute cat-rabbit animal with a personality and the first episode when compared to the rest of the episodes in the series was okay. This also had some good music, though I disliked the dub, the actors sounded like they were just reading their lines and Ayeka`s voice sounded too old for her physical age. Lupin III: Farewell to Nostradamus

Spiderus's avatar
Feb 9, 2019

An enjoyable yet predictable film featuring Lupin and your standard crazy religious group that wants to dominate the world, or something. The plotline is pretty basic, but not terrible if you're looking for something to kill an hour and a half with. If you are looking for Lupin+action, I found Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro more entertaining and worth my time. It is similar to this film in that Lupin (and crew) is saving a girl, but the stakes are higher and the antagonists more...obscure.

Liz & The Blue Bird demonstrates incredible writing skills, mixing multiple layers of narration, while showcasing stunning musical score, in which every note and every instrument is smartly chosen to match the characters on screen, in a musical-tale fashion, like Peter & the Wolf. Like the 1985 What’s Michael this is more like a collection of OVA’s or shorts put together for a single runtime of 44mins not a continuous story/plot. Once again Michael has a range of human companions from young and single to elderly and married. It’s really unclear if he’s been passed around or if the animators intentionally drew him in different homes with different owners. Once again humans make stupid decisions. From tracking a pig that wanders off, being love-sick, fishing on the riverbank, scouring the riverbottom for gold, witnessing a murder, making friends with a feisty horse to shocking the whole town, Tom has quite the childhood.    The story isn’t anything spectacular, but that wasn’t to be expected anyways. You can watch the episodes in whatever order you want, you don’t have to fear that you’ll be unable to follow the story. The main focus is a group of human and vampire friends hanging out together, with sometimes a little throwback to when the vampires were younger. It’s a chill anime to just sit back and watch after a long, stressful day.

Grave of the Fireflies

Grave of the Fireflies is, by far, the saddest movie I have ever watched. It makes Titanic look like a romantic comedy. Simba's death in The Lion King is a joke compared to Grave of the Fireflies. The wife's death in Up pales in comparison to the tragedies that befall the main characters in Grave of the Fireflies. From the very start, the main characters face tragedy after tragedy, hardship after hardship. When you think they might finally be escaping from the terrible cycle they're in, it just gets worse. I've been a huge AOT fan since the series first was released. I watched the first two seasons in a few days after the second season was released. This was during a particularly difficult time in my life, and so I attached a lot of value and love to the characters who helped me get through some of the toughest mental health struggles I've ever had to face. I built myself a 3DMG for a Sasha cosplay - it was my first time ever doing a large-scale construction for cosplay and was poorly constructed so it fell apart at the first convention I took it to, ACEN. The jokes Probably the strongest reason on this list, the jokes are the main part of why I believe Nichijou is so amazing. They are perfectly timed and spaced. An Amazing anime with some of the best artwork I have seen to this day. The plotline is deep, but not so deep you get lost in it. The characters go really well together and seem to be developed to a level that is not normally reached. The only problem I can find is that they sometimes try to do too much at once with the animetion and so the graphics are not always as smoothe as one would like, but over all the amazing artwork out does the occasional slip up in animetion.  In comparison, QZGS has everything that SAO lacked, it has character depth that I haven't seen in a long time, Fight scenes that... This was a show I picked up on a whim one day after seeing it on many lists of "anime that will make you cry". I like a good emotional story, so I figured why not? I was not prepared for the emotional rollercoaster that this show put me through.  Kousei is not necessarily the most relatable protagonist, since most people aren't familiar with the feeling of performing music alone in front of a crowd. This review is spoiler free. Here's one really smart anime. You can tell the writers know how to develop a story around intersting and sincere characters, like you've rarely seen before. Indeed, while setting its story around paranormal events, Rascal is an anime about real life, starring realistic characters, dealing with actual problems. That's where I think the anime has a therapeutic ambition, and where it is touching.

The main character is a perverted sharpshooter who takes a job no matter what it entails as long as there's a hot woman involved. His sidechick is always hitting him in the head with a hammer. Beyond this repeitive comedy however, I felt the plots were all episodic and the characters stopped developing after the first few episodes. I recommend a taste of this anime, maybe not the entire thing - unless you find out you dig it, then watch it all! (I don't know how it ends, I could improve.)

Okey~, when I saw this anime in my recommendations, I was like umm~ okeyy, seems like another BL anime, but when I was checking the rating, I thought: hmm ^^, not bad, so I watched the first episode, and I was like: omg, this is the best anime :O. Then I started to watch Banana Fish and I couldn't stop :D The story is just awesome, full of surpises and emotions. Some characters are hard to don't like, but some characters are the worst on the planet and I wish then the most painfull death. And when I watched the last episode, I literally cried all night :(. And it's shame Banana Fish isn't known as much... See full review

So when I started this one I gave it 3 stars originally, but honestly at that time I was only about 3 episodes in. I stuck through the first season and after the initial jump on the Oroborus arc and the introduction of Lunatic it started getting a lot better. When the second season started I had a whole new outlook on the series and was liking it. Second season continued the Oroborus plot and I saw no disappointments. Animation was good, I liked how everything was very detailed. Fight scenes were a joy to watch and always great. Opening and closing themes were good as well as in story music. On this... Ah, Redline, the industry’s loudest bomb. A bomb so explosive, so meticulously crafted and vibrant its aftershocks can still be felt today from all sides of the spectrum, from the painful lack of risks maligned in today’s time, to the cult following that spawned from the ashes. A decade later, and the film’s still one of the biggest spectacles in the business, so it may have just won in the end. Before I gush about the obvious, how ‘bout we get the specs on the writing, or rather the mainframe holding this bad boy together. Protagonist JP is one of the freshest mother fuckers in the... Watch. No other words. I happened across this without knowing about season one, but it didnt affect the story at all. Just an amazing show. The animation was top of the line. I never new what would happen next. I cried, laughed, and grew with each character in only 24 episodes. The ending was so. Amazing. Couldn't ask for more. Maybe more romance actually, that was a joke. It was and might be forever, my favorite anime.
