Kaze no Stigma

Jul 3, 2010

Kaze no Stigma is an epic. If you needed me to sum the show up in a sentence, that's how I would do it. However, I would have to give the story an immensely mediocre rating, simply because the plot just feels so clichéd. The regular team, the regular hot springs episode, the regular tsundere heroine... it's really overused. As much as I dislike the simplicity, though, there is a reason why the epic title still stands. I won't give anything away, but the plot twist at the end just came right out of the blue. You have this fun, playful occasionally monster-of-the-day routine, and then - BAM. You have... See full review

Gunslinger Girl

The overall story of this anime, though slow-paced, seems to know that it is. So it's no wonder that there isn't much to it to carry over the course of thirteen episodes -- just enough. I often wonder why the homepage for this isn't tagged with melancholy or something along those lines, because in reality, this is not something to watch if you want to feel anything along the lines of hopeful. The first episode was exactly what I was looking for in this -- violent, intellectual, and wonderfully bloody -- but the following episodes less than met my standards. Oh, they kept the first three... See full review

InuYasha

One of my absolute favorite things about this particular storyline is also what I despised most about it. Odd, yes? How about this for an explanation: The characters (though not all introduced at once) go through the entire series with the same goal. Not the same collective goal that changes; no, no. They each have their own reason for going out of their way and helping Kagome and Inuyasha for 167 episodes. And it never. Changes. By about halfway through the series the first time, I had completely forgotten why anyone was still with Kagome and Inuyasha, looking for the Shikon Jewel shards anymore. But... See full review

Munto

Warning: You will not get this the first time you watch it.Now that that's cleared up.I have to say, this OVA confused me at the very least. The story was sort of all-over-the-place, not quite sticking to what had been established at the beginning. It starts out with a seemingly unexplained explosion of sorts, accompanied by the usual panic and disarray. It then proceeds to launch into a discussion between two characters that have not been introduced, though it is short lived, as one throws himself off of a building with no warning whatsoever. The whole first scene looks like it could have been extended...
