Currently a Computer Animation Major, drawing everyday. Figure Drawing and Gesture Drawing it's a lot of work. Eventually I'll graduate, and hopefully get a job somewhere like Pixar or Sony.

If you like some of my anime listed, you may enjoy others I like also. here are some recommended.

One Piece: So I finally gave in and watched it.  It initially put me off because of the ugly style. (you get use to it pretty fast, and in the newer episodes it's like the artists learned how to tame the style so it looks better)  One piece isn't super entertaining at the beginning, but it keeps getting better and better.  Around episode 60 when Chopper was introduced, I realized how much I loved it and was addicted to it.  The writing for the story is great.  And the characters are great too.  Usopp, one of the most annoying characters when he was first introduced has become one of my favotires.(if you don't believe me just wait until you get to Sogeking, so freaken funny) It's like the creator gets better at writing for the characters as the series goes on.  If you try and watch it, but can't get through it, go to some of the later arcs first, as they will be much more entertaining.  This and Kekkaishi are probably the only shonen I would ever endorse.

Kekkaishi (You better try it now!): I'm going to put this on here again, why? because I really loved it, and waited each week for the new episode to come out. I don't know why it's not as popular as the other shounen anime, because I think it's better quality than others like Bleach and Naruto. The fight scenes are faster, and Yoshimori and Tokimori are super funny.

Mushishi:  Someone recommended this to me, so I started watching it and it was really good.  It's a little slow moving, but each episode leaves you with a good feeling.  There isn't a bunch of plot arcs like you normally see in anime so don't be disappointed.

Natsume Yujin Chou:  It reminds me of a mix between kamichu, and Mushishi.  Slower paced and more like a slice of life.  Also the cat is funny so it makes for a good laugh every once in a while.  Also I find any story with a lot of Shinto (the old Japanese religion) in it interesting.

Over Drive:  The first sport anime I have ever watched about road bicycling. Not only did it make me forever interested in road biking, but I loved the main character.  Of course I always like the dorky shy cute types so it was perfect.

Tide Line Blue: I need to get this on anime planet. I thought it was fun. The main character is a bit annoying for some people at the beginning, but I thought his antics were entertaining. This anime resembles fullmetal alchemist.

Noein: It's a sci fi anime with a bit of a mind trip in the story. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. More dramatic than the typical anime I prefer, but still good.

Eureka 7: This was on my top 5 for a while. I really liked it. My only complaint was that the main character was going through his angsty teenage stage and so could be annoying at times.

Genshiken (must watch): It was just so dang interesting, and funny. I liked everything about this anime except the fact that most of the members in the club were all about porn, along with their nerdy love of anime and video games. Luckily you never have to see the porn, so all is good. It takes a look at nerds (otaku) who love anime and video games in Japan.

Kakurenbo: watch it if you can find it. It's neet. Cell shaded 3d animation. Not super scary, but interesting nevertheless.

Lovely Complex (Must Watch): I am not a chick flick romantic comedy person at all. But I liked this anyway. It made me laugh a lot. The whole tall girl and short boy was fun to watch.

Ouran High School Host Club (Must Watch): I try and not put popular anime on my recs, because chances are you have already heard about it. But this was good, and funny, Takashi made me laugh so much. Give it a try if you haven't yet.

Seirei No Moribito: It's a samurai war futile lord sort of story. Amazing battles. Realistic story. But not too much laughs if that's what you are looking for.

Since you are interested in animation and liked Haibane I feel that it is my duty to make you see Mushishi. It has a similar feel to it as haibane and has probably the most beautiful landskape and environment I have ever seen in an anime (not counting movies since they usually have a much higher budget)

Wow!  A computer animation major, that sounds like it is a lot of fun!!!!!

I am just a history and classics major, not that much fun at all!  :(

I just started Noein not too long ago and I'm really enjoying it. I was looking for something similar to watch and came across your Noein - Denno Coil recommendation. I'll definitely give Denno Coil a try thanks to your recommendation. Keep up the great work! :)
