The Lost Village

Jun 28, 2019

I had not heard of this anime until I was scrolling through options on Crunchyroll in a foreign country while sick, looking for anything interesting.  Overall, it isn’t the worst anime ever, but there’s little going for it beyond its underlying themes. This review will spoil themes of The Lost Village.  A thriller or horror story with the concept of monsters based off of one’s personal trauma does have potential for deep emotional drama and horrific designs.  Despite this, the show fails to deliver on the potential of the concept of Nanaki village, where one must face their... The Promised Neverland

Mar 30, 2019

This review will be spoiler free, aside from revealing the overall tone of the show.  The Promised Neverland is a compelling thriller that utilizes sound and animation to form an effective tone.  In particular it’s use of sound effects and music serve to build tension and create emotion. Story(10/10): While I can’t reveal much of the story’s contents, it remains a tense thriller with incredibly high stakes should the main children fail in their task or be caught.  From the beginning the show always feels off, even before revealing its hand in how it will terrify the... Attack on Titan 2nd Season

Mar 18, 2019

I personally deeply enjoy attack on titan. There is little else required to preface a review for such an immensely popular show’s second season then to say that if you’re not familiar with the show, don’t start here.  Jump in at the first season, or - if you haven’t seen the show in quite some time - rewatch the first season before viewing this one.  It will put much of the plot and the mystery of the show into context and leave you feeling more satisfied.   Story (9.5/10): Attack on titan season 2 provides answers to many of the first seasons’ lingering... Orenchi no Furo Jijou

Oct 1, 2015

For a show as short and sweet as Orenchi no Furo Jijou, I figured I would give it a short, sweet review.  Overall, this anime isn't spectacular, but it's still quite good.  The animation is very nice, with the more realistic moments, and the cute chibis - generally used for jokes - mixed and utilized well.  While the characters aren't particularly deep - understandable with so little time to develop them - they are likeable, fully formed, and funny.  It doesn't have a flowing narrative.  While new characters are introduced, and reappear overtime, the story itself is a series of... Tanjou: Debut

Feb 21, 2014

Let's make this one quick, okay?  This OVA is bad.  It's pointless; the animation is awful(wrapping paper hair, freakishly thick eyes, terrible movement, etc), the story is disconnected between the two episodes and is dumb anyway, and the characters are completely detatched, static, and unlikable.  It was not an enjoyable experience. Do yourself a favor and save the hour of your life.  There are a lot better things you could do.  You could learn microbiology, or create a cure for cancer, or paint something beautiful and become the next Davinci!  OR JUST WATCH A DECENT ANIME... Beyond the Boundary

Feb 12, 2014

Story (2/10): So, let's get right down to what the actual story is.  Beneath everything else it's about Mirai and Akhito's growing relationship with one another.  They're both social outcasts in some way, with people hating Mirai for no apparent reason(other than that she's bat-shit crazy, but I'll get to that later) and though they claim to dislike Akhito and treat him like an outcast he's shown to have about five friends, which is quite a few.  The two of them get together to fight against the yonmu.  Now, tell me, does that sound cool?  It would be badass, you've got two... Attack on Titan

Jan 14, 2014

(Warning!  This review contains some spoilers for Attack on Titan.  You have been warned.) So, it's the night before exams at school.  I'm done studying and I'm lying in bed, unable to sleep due to nervousness and insomnia.  I wonder about what I should do and then reach out and turn on my i-pod and my Crunchyroll app.  I scan through the top titles for anything that might be on my 'want-to-watch' list or anything that caught my eye.  Eventually my eyes settled upon Attack on Titan.  I stared at the screen for a few minutes debating whether or not I should open it and... Sailor Moon

Oct 30, 2013

Sailor Moon is one of the most iconic anime of all time.  It's one of the big ones that you'll feel compelled to watch because everyone seems to know what it is.   Personally, I first heard of this show when I was eight years old and my friend Elyse told me about how epic it was when she was watching it.  At the time, I had no idea what "anime" was, and when I tried to look it up I couldn't find it anywhere on my television.  Years later, I got into anime and finally looked up the show, long after I had lost track of Elyse(seemingly forever, though I wonder if she'll ever see... Vampire Knight

Oct 28, 2013

I don't know if I really need to say this again, but I hate vampires.  Especially romantic ones. Why did I watch this show then, you ask?  I don't know.  I honestly have no idea.  No, I really have no clue.  Maybe when I was a little younger and had slightly less mature views about anime and romance(ie. 11-13 ish) I would've thoght a lot more about this show.  It's definitely made for people of that age group.   Story (4/10): The story starts off boring.  Honestly, in the first few episodes, I didn't really care what was going on.  There was very little of... Pokemon

Oct 21, 2013

Call me biased, but I have a special relationship with the first anime I ever watched.  It spawned a childhood obsession with an anime, game series, and lifestyle that helped me to survive grammar school.  It holds a special place in not only my own, but many other people's hearts.  Whether it's the game, the anime, the manga, or all three people care about, it really is something special. For 'hardcore' fans of anime, shows like this aren't something they would watch, especially if they didn't watch it around the time it came out.  It's a family friendly show, a good thing for young... Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Sep 12, 2013

Whenever I sit and think of what my favorite anime is, the first thing that comes to mind is: FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.  With it's complex story unlike any I'd ever seen before or will ever see again, fantastic concept, amazing characters...  I could list every single thing that makes this show the cream of the crop, the creme de la creme, but it would take me far longer than this review would allow to do so.  The show is action packed and deep, bringing things to anime that I have yet to see again.  I would recommend you go watch it now. Seriously.  Go watch it.  Why... See full review

Haganai: I Don't Have Many Friends

Aug 26, 2013

Have you ever been in a situation where you really think something will be great?  Have you ever then realized that it was just something average, and not worth the waiting and excitement you put in?  Well, this show might give you a similar feeling.  It's like gettting excited for a game to be released, waiting for 6 months for it to come out, and preordering it in advance, only to find out that it's only half as good as you would expect it to be.  That's how this show feels. Just a warning to sensitive viewers, the show contains breif scenes of nudity, obvious fanservice, and... See full review

Black Blood Brothers

Aug 24, 2013

Ah...  vampires...  I despise vampires.  I hate them with a burning passion due to the cliché way they are depicted in pop-culture.  Ever since Twilight was released and for some reason people enjoyed it (I did not!), paranormal romance has been in.  Hell, even when I go to the book store to buy some new books and mangas there's an entire section labeled Teen Paranormal Romance.  The concept is overrated and overdone.  I've only ever read one book series I remotely liked involving it, and it's not about vampires.  Considering this anime came out the year after... School Days

Jul 12, 2013

I have to wonder...  What would it be like if all of the girls from this show all went on The Jerry Springer Show?  The brawls would be incredible.  Then again... some parts of this anime weren't far from that. XD In all honesty, I only watched the show due to it's mixed reviews(literally! Check the review section!)This anime has to be the most disturbing thing I have ever watched.  From the themes, to the way Makoto sleeps with so many girls without actually caring about any of them, to characters being 'taken advantage of', to a random bed in the school where students er... Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Jun 19, 2013

Yes, I do realize that this score does NOT reflect or match the score on my anime list on the site: 4.5/5 stars, however, that's my fangirl score.  This score is a better assesment of what I actually think of the movie deserves, along with(obviously) a review as an assesment. I should add one more thing before going into this.  PLAY/WATCH FINAL FANTASY VII BEFORE WATCHING THIS MOVIE!  Trust me, it's really hard to understand without at least playing through Final Fantasy VII once beforehand.  I watched it once without playing through the games and only knowing about the characters and... Angel Beats!

Jun 13, 2013

When I started this anime I wasn't sure what to expect.  I don't think anyone I have ever known has watched it, and I didn't know very much about it other than the information given in the short summary on anime planet and a cursory reading of a few reviews.  However, after watching it I have found myself pleasantly surprised.   After reading the summary I didn't quite understand how there could be anything comedic in a show with such a serious premise.(Being trapped in a place between life and death, with vicious fighting left and right between two groups of people...)  However, I... Romeo x Juliet

Jun 4, 2013

I will start this off by saying I am a fan of Shakespeare and adaptations of his plays in various media.  For example, I love The Lion King, which is based off of Hamlet(It is!  Look it up...) and Kiss Me, Kate, based on The Taming of the Shrew.  Unfortunately, when it comes to Romeo and Juliet, certain versions of it in modern times have left me in tears, while I prefer to stay away from others.  When I watched this anime, I hoped it wasn't going to be a cheesy romance story, and to my happiness, it was not.  It was a great fantasy series and a fantastic adaptation of...
