The Unplayed Cheat Key

Feb 11, 2024

TL;DR - LMFAO what did I just read The premise was really promising, the idea of a real life becoming a dating sim and a cheat code could have been really hilarious and really sexy if done well but my goodness the writing is totally garbage. Even the sex scenes are lackluster, there's little to no build up of sexual activity so you get none of that sexy tension of two people trying to feel each other out, it's just lots of blushing and then one panel later they're already at 3rd base and then another panel later it's full on PIV. Feels like the author based this on watching porn videos instead of actual... See full review

Anything's Possible with Ultimate Alchemy

Sep 26, 2023

TL;DR - Meh. There's a formula that a lot of these fantasy manga follow now. Some weird, contrived way for the main character to become young/be reborn again? ✔️ The first person he meets upon reawakening/reincarnating/being summoned is a beautiful damsel in distress, and he saves her? ✔️ There exists adventurer guild(s) of some kind? ✔️ Half-assed attempt at world-building? ✔️ World has some stupid reason(s) to discriminate/hate against MC? ✔️ Said stupid reason(s) for discrimination/hatred are also... Zatsuyou Fuyojutsushi ga Jibun no Saikyou ni Kidzuku Made

Sep 25, 2023

TL;DR - It's pretty average, leaning towards good. Some things are done well and some things could use improvement. Let's start with what's good - the overall story progression and the art. Most of us love a good comeback/underdog story, and it's always really satisfying to see characters "reveal" their true selves. Although it follows a formula that we've seen tons of times (a really skilled character is ousted from a high-ranking party b/c they're stupid and think he's useless, and he finds his niche/glory with a new group), the characters are somewhat tolerable here. Another story that... See full review

Atsumare! Fushigi Kenkyu-bu

Aug 9, 2023

TL;DR - Fun, but sort of dragging on. It's a fun, light-hearted story about a guy who joins the mysterious research club composed of several members and an advisor who all have their own personality perks and quirks. It's pretty comedic and funny, and it never takes itself too seriously. It is sort of a harem in that some or most of the girls sort of like our ML, but since romance isn't the focus, you don't get any drama or much "competition" between the women fighting for him or anything. You just get a healthy rotation of chapters involving each/some/all of the women in weird situations with... See full review

I Spy a Married Life

Aug 7, 2023

TL;DR - The art is gorgeous and characters are fun. The female lead is a whirlwind. She's kinda nuts, very eccentric, and bold, and I'm loving it. There's something about characters and people who are super straightforward about their feelings and bold about expressing them that's really alluring and fun. The art style is gorgeous, and as a result the characters are all very good-looking. Dodam (FL) is probably one of the hottest girls I've seen in any manga/manhwa and that's saying a lot considering how much I've read. Story is a 6, because the premise is mostly weird. Don't get too wrapped up in the... See full review

After School Lessons for Unripe Apples

Aug 5, 2023

TL;DR - Hilarious and fun story with lovable and believable characters. I love this, it's so wholesome and funny, and the characters feel so real. The portrayal of the social awkwardness of these young kids growing up and learning about everything from socializing to friendship to romance is done so well, and man some of the funny moments are simultaneously hilarious and super cute. The way the story is told, and how all these coincidences combine together with misunderstandings and then layer together with the awkwardness of the characters masterfully leads to all the shenanigans that happen. It's... See full review

Revenge of the Baskerville Bloodhound

Aug 5, 2023

TL;DR - Some stuff is great, but most of it is downright awful. This one is a super mixed bag. The art is good - beautiful, clean, and very attractive characters. Certain events, isolated, were entertaining and fun to read. But everything else is unfortunately a mess. The characters aren't coherent, and the story pace is absolutely atrocious. Individual arcs are fairly entertaining, but nothing flows from one arc to the next and stuff is happening way too fast, making everything feel sloppy and rushed. Feels like the author got too ambitious and tried to cram too many ideas, plot lines, and more... See full review

Futari Switch

Jul 5, 2023

TL;DR - Multiple what-dafuq moments and hilariously entertaining. So this manga is by the same mangaka as the one who made Prison School. That's probably more than enough clue to tell you just how outrageous this story is. For once, we have a FMC that is way weirder than the Male MC. The stuff that happens in this manga is so outrageous and unexpected that I have burst out laughing several times. The art, as expected from Akira Hiramoto, is insanely good and detailed. Characters are beautiful and the details in the world are so well-drawn. But most people probably won't notice how well-drawn the bathroom... See full review

Jiken Jaken!

Jul 5, 2023

TL;DR - I guess it wasn't horrible but I ended up dropping it. For a mystery humor, it was kind of boring and unclever. The premise is that our main character has a crush on his senpai, who's crazy into mysteries. So he (or she) would "challenge" the other to mysteries they come up with. As a premise, this could make for fun, light-hearted reading, but the problem is that the characters are mostly uninteresting and every "mystery" is pretty... dull. There's a chapter that mildly touches on cold reading, and MC basically uses it to guess what color FMC's panties... See full review

Netorare Manga no Kuzu Otoko ni Tenseishita Hazu ga Heroine ga Yottekuru Ken

Jun 20, 2023

TL;DR - Read it cus it's entertaining, but don't expect a masterpiece. Based on the few chapters out so far, it doesn't seem to be a Borderline H manga. There are a lot of random shots of sex, but they're heavily censored and largely cropped, which leads me to think that the goal of this manga isn't to make you horny and fap. It has kind of a fun and different premise - main character gets reincarnated into an NTR manga as the asshole who NTRs the protagonist's girlfriend. He wants to avoid going the same route, but everything he does makes her actually fall for him. The little plot twists... See full review

Crazy Food Truck

Apr 21, 2023

TL;DR - Honestly weird, but hits the right spots if you're into weapons and food. The art isn't outstanding, but there are two things the author draws really, really well: weapons and food. Which is what basically 80% of this manga is, with the other 20% being random nudity. It sorta reads like a really weird fetish fantasy. Ex-military guy runs a food truck and meets random girl. Girl joins him and they go through a whole bunch of shenanigans together, usually involving weird towns they visit and food that he cooks. Girl is nude half the time and basically thinks about nothing but food. It's very... See full review

Invincible After a Hundred Years of Seclusion

Mar 1, 2023

TL;DR - Wow, this is absolute dogshit. I think it's trying to be funny and light-hearted but everything about it is bad. The art is bad. The characters are bad. The pacing of the story is atrocious. The humor isn't even funny. The premise is unique (MC gets rewarded the more he stays home), but if your entire gimmick is your main character never exiting his house, then the character himself, the things that happen to him, and the people who visit him have to be interesting. The problem here is that they aren't. MC overreacts to everything in badly forced humor, and none of the characters, even MC... See full review

Murabito Tensei: Saikyou no Slow Life

Jan 8, 2023

TL;DR - So underwhelming I couldn't make it past 3 chapters. Here's what sucks about it: The humor isn't funny. It's basically the same pattern of "MC says something smart or unexpected" and whoever he's talking to is either surprised, outraged, or overreacts. There's not much of a story setup. Stuff just happens. People randomly show up and MC always outsmarts them and they always love him at the end. Nobody has much of a personality. They talk to each other, but invariably MC just becomes their friend and if they're a woman they start crushing on him. The art... See full review

Aoashi

Sep 7, 2022

TL;DR - Incredible story that's a perfect balance of shounen and seinen. You see, the world of sports manga/anime has become a bit typical - most of them follow a pretty similar formula. Overly optimistic main character who doesn't have a single mean thought in their heads, usually kind of stupid, but has a love for their sport and some kind of hidden genius. They join a team of other quirky characters all with their own hidden strengths and aim together for nationals or whatever. *yawn* it's so typical now it's boring. Aoashi starts off seemingly following the same formula - but after several... See full review

TL;DR - This is seriously hilarious and unhinged. If you're looking for something to fap to, this isn't it. There is a lot of explicit sex, but it doesn't turn you on because you're so busy laughing. Everything about this manga is completely out of control. The humor is on point and so outrageous that you will, without fail, burst out laughing almost every chapter. In each chapter, every panel gets progressively weirder and weirder. There's not a single topic this manga avoids touching. You'll get it all - incest, yuri, BDSM, MILFs, Beowulf, narcissism, bestiality, dragon girls, idols, gender bending... See full review

Magic Artisan Dahlia Wilts No More

Jul 31, 2022

TL;DR - Started off interesting but hasn't developed and has a couple things that are unfortunately cringy. Let me start off with what this manga does well: Clean artwork. Looks good, didn't spot any weird proportions or anything anywhere. Having said that, it's pretty average. Nothing really stood out about it. Nice lore/setting. A lot of detail is put into explaining how things work in this particular world. Lots of different monsters/materials yielded from them, the effects of said materials on different things, the mechanics of how magical devices work, etc. I wish... See full review

Weak Hero

Jul 30, 2022

TL;DR - It's ok, but it's kind of cringy in many ways and gets repetitive after a while. I made it up to Ch. 46 before I decided to stall it. Maybe I'll pick it back up later if I'm bored. The very beginning was really well-done - you were given the impression that this was about a bunch of high schoolers who were delinquents. Our main character, Gray, is kind of mysterious and quiet, but has a hidden side of himself that's really powerful and kind of vicious. It does a really good job of building hype and suspense as well as drive an underdog story, so I was pretty hooked at the beginning. The problem... See full review

The Eminence in Shadow

Jul 29, 2022

TL;DR - I genuinely don't understand why this is rated so highly. Cringe weeb MC reincarnates into another world as a completely overpowered character, builds a secret organization, and has the maturity of a 10 year old. The entire manga is a cringefest, and the "humor" in it isn't even funny. The "unique" premise is supposed to be that he tries to hide his powers and superior capabilities, except he really doesn't.  Because like every other isekai all these random things start happening and again and again he's there with his overpowered self to fix things and make them... Sensei, Ore ni Kamawazu Itte Kudasai!!

Jul 17, 2022

TL;DR - It's meh in every department. As you can probably guess, the premise is pretty interesting... our female lead is a young manga artist who gets into the zone for her work by masturbating. Our male lead ends up being her assistant. Seems like this could be all sorts of sexy and funny, right? Nope. It's mild and meek and pathetic. The artwork is pretty, but everything else about the manga is mediocre and not memorable at all. If you're looking for sexy and raunchy, this manga doesn't cut it. The vast majority of the time most of the characters are fully clothed, and a lot of the "sexy"... See full review

Bakemonogatari

Jul 14, 2022

TL;DR - So good. Even better than the anime(s). With manga, there's something incredible about the way you can make use of art to tell the story. Lines and shading, angles and perspective, panel shapes and sizes and everything else available to still art. The Monogatari series has always been something of a bizarre enigma, combining your typical shounen fighting and fantasy element with hilarious puns and references and even better nods to real-life literary works and the supernatural. A lot of people have already seen the anime(s) and even read the light novels, but the manga rendition of this is just... See full review

Tokyo Revengers

Jul 13, 2022

TL;DR - I really enjoyed this up til the latest arc, but now it's kinda dragging a bit. It's a really enjoyable series. Characters are fun, unique, and interesting, and up until the latest arc there were a lot of really interesting twists and turns. The latest arc has employed way too much shounen though. Lots of power-of-friendship moments, "powering through" the impossible by shouting really loudly, noble sacrifices/deaths, people suddenly unveiling their "true" strength, etc. It's getting pretty old and it's starting to lose me. Up to chapter 204 is a solid 5 stars but everything... See full review

The God-Slaying Demon King: Reincarnated as a Mere Mortal to Become the Strongest in History!

Jul 13, 2022

TL;DR - This manga is a cringefest in just the first 3 chapters. I know some people are going to get on my case for reviewing this only 3 chapters in but frankly I'm not interested in reading more. The artwork is beautiful, really detailed, intricate scenes and clean lines and shading. Definitely a huge plus here. The problem? Characters and story. The setup itself is fine, you have a demon king who united all the demons and rebelled against the demon god(s) who wanted to retain control over the mortal realm. He loses, but reincarnates because he made a backup plan in case he lost. See that alone isn't... See full review

Shinmai Ossan Boukensha, Saikyou Party ni Shinu Hodo Kitaerarete Muteki ni Naru.

Jul 10, 2022

TL;DR - A confusing average... Some things are great, and some things are downright terrible. The premise is one we've seen over and over again - main character who's somehow the exception to all the rules you can conceive of surprising everyone with how insanely overpowered he is. The characters start off uninteresting and shallow. The main character has no personality other than your stereotypical ultra-positive, kind, courteous guy. His origins are far-fetched at best, he spends 14 years as a desk clerk and somehow in his 30s, within 2 years, becomes S-rank even though the entire first half... See full review

Jun 27, 2022

TL;DR - I loved everything about this up to the latest arc and then had to drop it. As others have noted, this was one of the most incredible mangas I had read in a while. There are very few stories out there talking about the transience of human life and following a character that transcends that. It was both tragic and beautiful watching all the people he met throughout his time pass on without him, relationships feeling both forever and fleeting at the same time. Lots of tears shed, powerful feelings about justice and love and friendship explored through so many characters and arcs. Artwork is also... See full review

Jun 27, 2022

TL;DR - Hmm. I can't decide if it's cute or cringy. It has its cute moments but it progresses so quickly that it really reads like someone's lonely fantasy. There are loads of childhood friend reunion stories out there, it's always fun to read about people who make complete turnarounds. But not only is each chapter short - they're basically confirmed to have feelings for each other so abruptly within the first few chapters that there's not really anything to build up to. Hence why I can't decide if it's cute or cringy. It certainly has cute moments, but they came so soon that it felt weird. Imagine going... See full review

He was isekai'd w/ a group of people and of course, someone in the group is ridiculously evil for no reason and they all ditch this guy. That's where any real "story" ends. He laments his situation, wishes he had internet, and then magically, without explanation, acquires Internet lvl 10 skill and infinite battery for his phone. Apr 29, 2022

TL;DR - Blegh. I picked this one up because it was controversial and I was curious what it was about. Putting aside the questionable premise and subject material, the story and characters just flat out suck. We've got the main character who's your gutless, "overly kind" trope. He's a pervert and watching him try to become more assertive (read: creepy) was not enjoyable or interesting at all. His wife, our titular character, is literally a high schooler and the circumstances around why they're married are pretty contrived and stupid. Apr 27, 2022

TL;DR - It's pretty good, but characters are getting frustrating. I've noticed a bad trend with Korean manhwas, and it's the tendency to make antagonists and bad guys ridiculously mean bullies for pretty much no reason. I think it's reflective of how society is in Korea, where pretty much your social class and family name can determine how easy/shitty your life is and how much power you have. If your reputation is trashed (whether you deserve it or not) there's pretty much no chance of recovering it. The issue with this is that it's frustrating as all hell to read, and this particular... TL;DR - Not a bad read. Enjoyable enough, but unfortunately ruined its own potential. When I first started reading this, it was fairly interesting and drew me in. I love stories with strong, capable FMCs, and even more so if they're somewhat cold and distant, slowly opening up to others over time. I love that kind of character progression. The artwork was also beautiful and the story, although peppered with elements of humor, was mostly a serious journey into the heart of Ianna. TL;DR - Very good and enjoyable for the most part up until a few dozen chapters ago. The character development and storytelling are amazing. There's a lot of depth to character progression and development, and the artwork has been pretty decent, albeit a bit inconsistent at times. The reason I'm not rating it higher is that it feels like the author is fizzling out. In the latest chapters, a lot of the incredible detail in the artwork you saw closer to the beginning has disappeared. The backgrounds are often sparse and empty, and there doesn't seem to be as much shading or detailing anymore.
