TL;DR - I loved everything about this up to the latest arc and then had to drop it.

As others have noted, this was one of the most incredible mangas I had read in a while. There are very few stories out there talking about the transience of human life and following a character that transcends that.

It was both tragic and beautiful watching all the people he met throughout his time pass on without him, relationships feeling both forever and fleeting at the same time. Lots of tears shed, powerful feelings about justice and love and friendship explored through so many characters and arcs. Artwork is also great, pretty unique in its style.

But that was only up until the modern era arc. After that, the storytelling completely turned to shit. I have no idea where it's going now, I have no idea why the author decided to keep the manga going. Feels like it could've been a beautiful ending after the last arc.

After reading Chapter 136, i had to drop it. If you don't believe me, read up to the end of Ch. 136 and you'll probably be wondering if it's even the same manga. You will literally see a panel of a fat kid getting flogged by his "little sister." I'm not kidding.

It's such a shame when amazing series shit the bed like this.
