...at how out of nowhere it came. And that’s generally how jokes work--with some level of surprise to them. Like how this story has a really cute joke in its final panel that’s entirely dependent on the unexpected visual image and the silliness of the situation as a whole (the blub glub glub). Most of this manhua isn’t very funny and definitely isn’t jokey, though it does have a pretty lighthearted atmosphere. The premise is that two hired hands are, through circumstances related to what Wei manor wanted from them, thrust into a life-or-death battle against three warriors ranked highly on the Fengyun Rankings.

Snowy is a pretty cool character. Fe has a nice design--all-white skin and hair, with the hair put up in a nice ponytail and face-framing bangs, and with bright red eyes--and is a super deadly martial artist. And it’s pretty funny how money-obsessed fe is. The guy traveling with Snowy isn’t nearly as interesting. Nor are any of the other side characters. They just feel like standard martial arts fighters and a pretty generic lord of a manor.

The manhua is full-color and has some nice blended smudging used in the shading (I assume digitally done). I like the texture this adds to the work. Several of the panels have flowers or other plantlife framing them. I like the minimalistic, almost stick-figure way the characters are drawn from a distance, with their limbs thinning out to the extreme. I don’t care for how the sheath of the sword seems to be an image taken from a photograph. The fights were swift, and there wasn’t a huge amount of back-and-forth choreography in them, but they were still pretty cool and engaging. And it definitely got across the point that Snowy is overwhelmingly stronger than...
