This oneshot functions pretty well as a standalone story--with Tsubasa getting stuck out in the cold and waiting at a bus stop with a gyaru, who prioritizes the fashion of wearing a skirt and the ease of using feir smartphone over protecting against the cold. But more than the story by itself, I'm impressed by how it connects with the first chapter of the series. It doesn't have redundancy between it and the first chapter and also feels like the first chapter is a natural continuation rather than just riffing on the same idea. The series itself is based in the school which Tsubasa is transferring into and which Minami is also attending, and I feel like the easy thing to do would've been to have this oneshot also start in the school. But this author recognized that more important than the school-life is showing off the potential of a series based in cold weather--the cuteness of frozen tears and mucus. Yes, the cuteness of mucus.
