One thing to know while going into this is that it’s not primarily a romance. Joy was into Arie long before the story even began, and Arie sort of falls for Joy in a very soft, drama-free way. The focus of the story is self confidence, the diservice it is to yourself to endure something for the sake of keeping the peace amongst your friends, drawing boundaries, what people owe their birth family, and generally trying to come into yourself as a young adult with a screwed up childhood. 

Joy’s struggle to articulate how uncomfortable men’s attention is when she knows they want something for their kindness and desperately doesn't want to give them anything but can’t say no really hit me.  

It’s a quick read because all in all, very little goes on and the leads are always incredibly sweet and respectful of each other.
