Horimiya is just a heartwarming and human, many of the rom-com anime achieve the comedy through slapstick, overuse of the tsudere and over exaggerated situations/response. The romance part is usually through incredibly awkward, angsty and cringy teenagers. Horimiya has all of those tropes, yet they are all so tone down and grounded that it feels refreshing within its genre. Fan service only works when there is a compeling story to get "emotionally" attached to the characters, otherwise just go watch hentai. You come to High School DxD for the fan service, you stick around for the story, but you really stay for: what are going to come up with next as stand in for intercourse and the "perfectly logical" reason for nudity? The first season is really worth watching, the story really just got downhill from here as how much can you evolve the boner counter... I mean Issei's Sacred Gear.  

Remember that time when you played Skyrim and put everything into alchemy and enchantments? Or when you were able to witchstand the Bovine Defense Force in Witcher 3 because of potions (pre-patch)? Well that's pretty much the premise of Bofuri, but Maple, unlike me, is constantly the first person to discover the broken game mechanics through clueless and clumsy accidents. It's too cringe to turn your brain off, I just couldn't listen to Not-Kirito edgelord say milady one more time to Not-Asuna moe. I mean, I like SOA. I like cross-ange. I like steampunk. I like harem. I feel like many people might ignore the OVA after the somewhat dissapointing end of season 1 ending. This is mainly because the core 13 episodes left us with no closure whatsoever. I honestly might be over-ratting the OVA as I am not in any way a real critic with the savvyness of anime; however, from the perspective of a fan that would love to see closure to series that is much touching, I really do believe it provides with the right execution of a closure that is within the grasp of the producers.
