That's crazy. Removing all and any elements of what could possibly make an anime inappropriate for kids. I remember than as a kid I didn't really pay much attention to these details so in my opinion this kind of censorship was always really pointless, but I don't really know the facts.
Does anyone complain about things not being for kids?
How/Why does a studio decide to do this kind of extreme censoring?
Many variations on gender neutral pronouns already exist. These are simply the ones I choose to use.
I'm sorry it feels like I'm mocking peoples' gender, but that is not what I'm trying to do in the slightest. Gender exists regardless of pronoun usage. I understand that our culture and language has the momentum of pronouns being intrinsic reflections of a person's gender, but it needn't be that way. Gendered pronouns have some inherent problems in that they allow for explicit misgendering to happen, and since pronouns don't need to be gendered to serve their grammatial functions, I've decided to stop using gendered pronouns entirely (in my reviews, at least).
Thank you for clearing this up as I havent read any of the source material. The writers or producers should have at least put in a line of dialogue explaining this Rip Van Winkle moment.
