This film was so... weird. I'm still trying to process what I've just watched. I genuinely thought this had the potential to be something better story-wise but it failed miserably. For one, the concept was pretty good... with the whole frozen-in-time narrative, but everything that came after is a big NO for me. Now, why would someone of a sound mind write a love triangle plotline between a teenage couple and their 'future' / 'alter reality' child? The underlying incestuous tone made me want to commit a crime. And the ending did not help one bit. Of all the possible premises they could’ve gone with... See full review
The standard for Shounen surely has dropped in the past years, the bar is now almost non-existent if this is considered the best current shounen. Let me clarify, I do not hate this show despite my critical stance, I'm just able to put aside personal bias and recognize its flaws. JJK is nothing short of mid. Despite everyone screaming for the past years JJK has been out that it's a 'masterpiece', it surely isn't. I've been following the manga since 2019 and when the anime came out I always wondered what the hype was about and when I saw the animation... I knew. Please repeat after me everyone... Finding out that Miyazaki was releasing a new film said to be his final work, with little to no promotion... let me tell you, the excitement I felt was unreal. His films hold a special corner in my heart; Studio Ghibli is, and will always be my Disney. 'The Boy and the Heron' has all the charms and nostalgia of Miyazaki's previous works and everything I adore in a Studio Ghibli film. Still, it felt a bit lacking in storytelling. We follow the themes of grief and the death of a loved one, and how to move on and accept newness after such loss. But the fantastical adventures and emotional journeys you... See full review
OPM + Mob + Black Clover + Harry Potter = This series To be honest, of all the anime we got for this season, this show was one I enjoyed purely because of how unserious it is. It has all the anime troupes you can possibly think of and the plot armor goes crazy each episode, plus we have an OP Mc (which personally doesn't bother me, I love OP characters). The story doesn't really offer much because we just skip from one thing to another, until the last episode where there seems to be a new villain in the play, Abel was just a warm-up 'bad guy'. No, the characters aren't complex nor do they have enough... See full review
Such a promising premise with many possibilities and potential, only to be ruined by cliche romance. Pretty animation. That's all.
See full reviewAs someone who enjoys watching Makoto Shinkai films, this one may be my least favorite. Though, I have some appreciation for it. Suzume pales in comparison to his previous works in terms of storytelling, character writing, and originality. It was not as emotional and epic as I expected. The dynamic between the characters wasn’t interesting nor was it as compelling... It had some charming moments but I did not feel any attachment to any of the characters. Personality where? Now, I understand that this is pretty much not meant to be only a romance film in terms of (girl meets guy and they fall... See full review
Spy x Family...but better? So, from the moment this anime got announced, people immediately started to compare it to the beloved show Spy x Family. Granted, there are some similarities, however, you'll come to find quickly that other than the 'found family' concept, they're both different shows. Dare I say B.D is much better? Hear me out... As someone who loves a good SOL/Feel-good anime, Spy x Family was good but got disappointing really fast (I couldn't finish it) and its main problem was finding a balance between the comedy, the action, and the SOL aspect while maintaining interesting... For an entire year, this anime has been on my to-watch list and I kept putting it off, however, I've never known peace since seeing some edits on Instagram months ago and now recently on tiktok... it made me go 'hmm its a sign I should watch it' To be clear, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this series to a certain extent (in the first half). The problem for me wasn't the lack of pirates and whatever it is that pirates do... no, it was the wasted potential, plot holes, and lack of execution. For my taste at least, I was pretty okay with the casual and subtle mentions of pirates and... See full review
Peak Fiction! I know not everyone is happy with the ending but I'm very satisfied with how the story wrapped up (that's a lie I'm actually devastated) *punches air* I know there's really no 'right' or 'wrong' side in AOT... almost everyone has a blurred/ skewed moral compass yet, it's hard not to take Eren's side. I didn't watch 3 seasons of him, the scouts & the people of Paradis struggling and losing everything just to not take his side because he pulled an Uno reverse card. I'm not feeling very philosophical right now so I'm not going to go into details but, Eren has all his life been... See full review
I've come to the conclusion that no one will ever be able to adapt Junji Ito's work as well as the source material. He's one of THE best Japanese horror manga artist and rightly so. And to this day, the adaptations we've gotten so far all lack what the source material gives us... suspense, that chill down your spine when turning to the next page, the grotesque graphics that are utterly disturbing and creepy but done in such a way, it's brilliant... The anime adaptations fail to deliver the feeling you get when you sit down with the manga... there's no tension, no ambiance to really relay the... See full review
Contrary to what some people have been saying about this season, I thought it was an amazing one. Yeah, we didn't get much of the random ghost hunting and fighting "big bad evil guy" in the second half, instead, we got to see Mob being explored as a character which in my opinion was long overdue. It's like tying up loose ends in previous seasons... we get to see previous "bad" characters changing for the better, Ritsu being able to overcome his inferiority complex towards his brother, the club members bonding, Reigen finally admitting to Mob who he really is (despite Mob already... Kept putting this one off even though I was very excited to watch it when I first saw the PV. Long story short, the concept was good, and the themes were there, but they tried to do way too much and ended up with poor execution (aka a big mess). Not everyone can do fantasy mixed with modern elements as well as studio ghibli... in a way that's consistent and balanced, that is. They could've explored more in-depth either the fantasy aspect or the 'survival/dealing with trauma aspect', that way the characters would've been more 3 dimensional instead of flat and annoying... (I'm looking at you... See full review
Understandably, CSM got major hype from both manga readers and non-readers... Mappa did a great job with the animation and production quality, but overall CSM is nothing original or groundbreaking. The story is good, yet not great and the characters (some of them) are enjoyable and likable, yet not interesting or unique enough, at least for my taste. Denji is pretty likable at times, but his actions are questionable... I tend to overlook them (sometimes) because "he had a rough childhood"... or so the psychoanalytic people claim. As for the pacing in the anime, sometimes... See full review
The entertainment value is HIGH with this one. It had fantastic animation and the tone was set pretty well, it captured the cyberpunk aesthetic nicely. The story doesn't offer much in general but the concept was interesting. I'm not familiar with the game it's based initially on, but I still very much enjoyed it. As for the characters, I am quite surprised at how much I liked some of them. They lack depth and exploration but considering there are only 10 episodes, it's expected. Lucy and David were pretty cool though. Overall, it may be because I have no attachment/familiarity to the original game, that... See full review
Initially, the concept was quite interesting so I wanted to know more.. but as soon as I got to the 3rd episode I knew it was heading toward disappointment. I ended up reading the manga to see how the story wrapped up... a bad idea it was. I refuse to believe the same man who created Death Note created this disappointment of a series. How do you mess up this badly, not only with the characters but also taking such an interesting concept and having it crash and burn to bits? A rare talent indeed. No, I do not recommend wasting your time with this show.
See full reviewI see a lot of discourse about this anime... you either like it or hate it.. really it all comes down to personal preference. If you enjoy ecchi (either fully or to an extent) you'd automatically like this show, but if not then *why are you still watching it?* or better yet, why'd you watch it in the first place? the tag is there for a reason. That being said, I'm not particularly fond of ecchi myself but I can make exceptions if I find the story interesting or enjoyable at least. Apart from the questionable ecchi shots, I find the show to be... See full review
A simple and okay watch. I expected more plot-wise because it could have been better but was not executed properly. The story, in a nutshell, is we have our main character Kanna, who's struggling emotionally since the death of her mother. She is dealing with grief and becomes a bit closed-off from her dad and starts having trouble with running (mainly self-doubt and blame caused by trauma) I always loved the dynamic of mixing modern elements with folklore in anime... and a lot of times it's done rather well. Take Studio Ghibli films for example... (though I hate comparing anime films to each other) the... See full review
And here I thought Fate/EXTRA Last Encore was the worst of the Fate adaptations... Yes, I like to watch everything Fate related and will continue to do so... no I am not mentally ill (:
See full reviewThey pulled a Tokyo Ghoul with this season... absolute disappointment. Even if you haven't read the manga, you can still tell that this season was rushed and isn't consistent and just doesn't make sense. "Manga readers are too harsh" no you're just used to bland and bad writing.
See full reviewThis anime was... super entertaining, but it isn't stable and consistent when you think about the storyline/plot. I mean, it depends on how you look at it and what exactly is considered a 'good' plot for you. They did a good job keeping you entertained from the get-go, however, a few plotholes emerged along the way. *slight spoiler* They ended up introducing quantum computers, which I expected, but they didn't go into detail with anything, as with the rest of the show. They talked about several things yet never truly explained how or why. I do like the fact they kinda painted the executioners... See full review
Great pretender was absolutely amazing, words can't describe how much I loved this anime! At first, I was very iffy about it but ended up binging the first 14 epi on Netflix in one sitting... It's definitely one of the best, *if not the best* new anime to air in 2020 so far. It had everything: great plot, amazing (diverse) characters, beautiful soundtracks, gorgeous art style/animation, humor, twists, etc The last 9 episodes (15-16) started out a bit slow/boring but picked up back its pace when they finally got to Laurent's backstory which ties everything together and gave us an impressive buildup...
