Yeah very rare.

Thank u for ur sympathy. And I'm sorry if I come across as harsh and unreasonable, through personal experience I have come to struggle with my self image so I hate when people say things without considering the consequences, these as they would see it as harmless teasing has been the cause of why i have struggled with my self image and self worth, ppl needlessly saying hurtful things that cause, for many people irreversible damage, so i guess even though it's just aimed at a made up character it reminds me of people that just can't keep their hateful opinions to themselves.

I said it's a possibility it could lead to that, not a guarantee. If u ever watch shows about serial killers u will often find that they hav very warped views on certain people wether it's gender or race or whatever, and many times they will document this desire or hatered through written expression, i saw one show about a young guy whose well documented distain towards women, lead to him committing murders, police will sometimes find these people expressing unhealthy views either through Internet forums or through their diaries, u kno writing things that u say is harmless and a good way to vent.

Also its not just about potential murderers that is of course a very extreme thing that is rare but does happen, what if for example someone writes a hateful message to a character that has been in a  abusesive relationship (search Yui from Diabolik Lovers, she was abused by a house of vampires and go look at what some people say about how useless and dumb she was for staying with them, keep in mind many victims of abuse, women especially that are in abusive relationships often feel like they can't escape or they develop a dependency on their abuser) and they write 'why didn't she/he fight back, they are so useless what a stupid ****' then someone who has actually been abused sees this, how would that make them feel??? To see someone expressing such anger towards a relatable situation. It could cause psychological trauma to resurface or even cause them to feel like they are useless and they should have done more to defend themselves.

And some people have a harder time than u think at separating fiction from reality, https://comicbook.com/anime/news/darling-in-the-frankxx-controversy-death-threats-anime-episode/ this link talks about how some fans that clearly struggle with separating fiction and reality, quite literally harassed and sent death threat to the staff responsible for making the Anime, because they were upset about fictional characters....... their online opinions quickly transformed to real life problems, and thats my point while harmless for some it's not that way for others.

https://medium.com/lessons-from-history/this-22-year-old-youtuber-killed-his-family-7294a239094d  another link, this is about a anime YouTuber who murdered his family, im not saying he did it because he hated a character, but this is an example of someone who is a anime fan that is clearly unstable, i dont kno the full story I haven't read it all but the world can be very dark and dangerous, so stay safe out there so people will often show sign of worsening mental stability

Oh and iv hate myself pretty much every day for close to 15yrs, longer than uv been alive so I kno a lot about anger, frustration and self loathing.

Errrmmmmm........ OK. But thats extremely childish, yes we all go through things but as I said vent towards more important REAL life matters, use that frustration and do something positive...... And u do kno punching bags and stress balls are a thing, they are far more proven to relieve stress and anger than writing a message which most won't pay attention to.

And yes these characters are not likable.... that's their whole purpose to provoke emotions from the audience, so u r literally hating a character that is meant to be hated and thats fine, but there is ZERO point writing stupid nonsensical statement or threats and even derogatory comments about them. Especially when some of them are down right worrying, to the point where the person that wrote it is potentially a danger to society, as this feeling could easily manifest and be used in the real world.

Its unhealthy and i for one draw the line at simply writing 'i didnt like him/her' thats all that needs to be said. But ur very young so u don't have much life experience, just kno dangerous people exist in this world and if a person that expresses a view to inflict harm on a character trait, what's to stop that person meeting someone in real life with that trait that they so hate.
