Shomin Sample

Dec 24, 2015

Should you watch this show? If you are in the mood for a mindless slightly-laughable comedy, then by all means, have at. Otherwise, stay away, you will simply become frustrated. Shomin Sample (not even going to bother writing the whole name, because seriously, just no) is about a regular old Joe named Kimito Kagurazaka who is kidnapped from his school by some seriously ripped military dudes and is taken to the all-girls rich-only academy where he is to begin his new life as a showcase to show the girls what an average guy is like. Not going to lie. This show is absolute garbage. Stupid story when it's... See full review

Serial Experiments Lain

May 7, 2015

Should you watch this show? Are you in the mood for a quasi-hyperexistentialism show which may of may not leave you terribly confused? (p.s. if you don't know what existentialism is, then you won't get this show, as such, don't watch it) Yeah, why not? Serial Experiments Lain is a 1998 anime written by somebody who finished their first semester of their philosophy degree and seriously wanted to show off what they knew. It's a slow-paced show, with information coming in little bits at a time. The characters develop slowly, but the transformation within the main character is extremely impressive and also... When They Cry: Higurashi

May 1, 2015

A shakespearean descent into madness comparable to Othello itself. That's the only way that I can describe the insanity that is "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni." Should you watch this show? If you're a fan of psychological thrillers and can handle blood and some of the most violent deaths in anime, then absolutely yes. This show is cut into several smaller story arcs, knowing this ahead of time will help deal with the confusion that will happen after finishing the fourth episode. There are 6 story arcs in total, three that will leave you terribly confused, one that shows something that happened in... See full review

C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control

Apr 26, 2015

Should you watch this show? Eh, it's not the best and there are better shows out there I'm still trying to figure out if the show was about how money is evil, banks are evil, governments that print money are evil, or the free market economy is evil. With all of these possibilities it's clear that this show left me a little confused.  We start off with a main character who is flat broke and we see him go to this parrallel world that essentially controls the economy and as a result, the world. In this alternate world people can win big money by fighting it out with their partners, called... See full review

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!

Apr 25, 2015

Should you watch this show? Yes Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai (hereafter referred to as "the show") is a romantic comedy revolving around an ex-crazy who meets a currently crazy and the adventures that they have together. This show is essentially a cross of K-On and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. And it's a pleasant cross. It lacks the umph of Suzumiya, but it has the heart of K-On. If you haven't watched either of these shows, please do, they're both great The story is interesting and though it does follow a standard romance storyline, it approaches it from a different angle and... The iDOLM@STER

Apr 3, 2015

Should you watch this show?  Yes. The iDOLM@STER starts off as a good show.  Nobody who paid any attention would call it great, but it definitely becomes a dang good show during its last third.  It spends most of its time being very episodic and with a particularly misleading first episode (it seems that the show will be a reality show, but don't worry, it turns into a normal anime after episode 1), I can understand why some people would stop watching very early.  But this show deserves some love.   The characters are all interesting in their own way, all of the ones that you... Cat Planet Cuties

Mar 30, 2015

Should you watch this show?  Well... let me get to that Ok.  You've clicked on a show called "Cat Planet Cuties." The slogan is literally "Bombshells from the sky." Seriously, there is no universe in which a show with that kind of title is going to be a winner. You know it's going to be an ecchi, and ecchi's tend to not be too highly regarded in the story department, instead focusing on the "plot" as it's often referred to.  That said, let me tell you a little something about the show. It's fun There, I said it.  It's a fun show.  It's like watching... See full review

Steins;Gate

Mar 28, 2015

Should you watch this?  Yes. Steins;Gate is one of the highest rated and most recommended anime of all time, for good reason.  Good psychological thrillers tend to be some of the best stories, after all.  With a cast of characters that are generally very real-feeling and yet still quirky enough to keep our interest, a premise that promises something exciting, two absolutely wonderful opening and closing songs, and an art style that is almost minimilistic in feel while still being pretty, we have what makes a good anime.  Having grown up in a science-fiction family I have been...
