Kill La Kill

Mar 4, 2019

Normally, I like to criticize animes for moving too slowly at first at the expense of really, really flat villains. You start slow as a nobody, find an omnikiller, and rise to the top rapidly. One minute you're killing the spider queen, and the next thing you know, you're jumping 20 sharks fighting utopia gasses on Mars. That kind of thing.

This anime skips right to the fight the villains part. While this leads to a consistent over-the-top functionally-nude action-packed anime, it suffers from suuuper flat main characters. The villains and outside interests get more character development than the MC.

This show is really guilty of Deus Ex Determination, but it has a lot of creative battles. Entertaining but highly predictable. Less of a profound experience, and more of a guilty pleasure.
