Violet Evergarden

May 29, 2018

I am pretty sure that I've never cried from watching an anime.  And yet this anime managed to get me weeping in empathy not once, but thrice... I have had some really messed up things happen to me in my life, and such has resulted in me having a much thicker skin and a tighter reign on my emotions than most people my age.  It is becuase of that that I empathize with Violet.  Watching this show helped me to, without even realizing it, open up to emotions that I hadn't willingly felt in a long time.  It helped me to understand my inner feelings in a way I have never experienced. It... See full review

FIRST IMPRESSION REVIEW!  (Minor Spoilers: Updated as of 5-27-2017) Now HERE is an interesting idea!  "Person in a strange world" style anime, but the strange world is ours!  Talk about a fun twist!  NOTE: This review is of the eight episodes that have been released as of the 27th of May. As far as first impressions go, this one was all around amazing!  The first episode kicks off the show with superb pacing!  (I just wrote a review earlier for a show with terrible pacing, so this is a welcome change!).  The characters are believable, are introduced... (Early Review: First three episodes.  NO SPOILERS) Okay, I'm going to go ahead and point out the most frustrating problem with this anime. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE PACING! The concept is great, the animation is well done, and the music is well done, but the pacing is downright irritating. The first episode goes so fast that my mind was stuggling to keep up (which does not happen often).  Everything in this show would feel far smoother if they had split the first episode into 2 parts.  Heck, all the episodes I've seen since could have benefited from being split. It feels as though the... See full review

The Sacred Blacksmith

FIRST IMPRESSION REVIEW; First three episodes!  (May contain minor spoilers; I won't spoil major plot details.) Disclaimer: My opinion is my own; I just voice it rather bluntly.  Also, I am writing this review when I am still waking up; so pardon me if I "digress on my digressions". I have only one major complaint thus-far; Freakin' fan-service! It has always been my opinion that fan-service and porn do not belong, or at least do not NEED to be in a story-driven show, because such things distract from the overall story.  The hulu subbed-version does a decent job of editing-out a... Log Horizon

Dec 29, 2014

*Limited Spoilers* This is my first review, so please be patient with me.    I watched this anime after having already been exposed (gladly, I might add) to Sword Art Online (SAO).  It has been my observation that many people compare this anime to SAO, so I will focus there.    It is true that the premise in Log Horizon (LogH) is very similar to that of SAO; real world people trapped in their favorite pastime of a video game.  Therefore, it may seem natural to compare the two.  I think that that's slightly unfair.    SAO and LogH have similar...
