It's not a problem! I understand; it is true that the timelines vary a lot, and in many there is not enough background information to reach a conclusion on this. The reasoning she provides for helping Satoko in multiple timelines is not that she cares about Satoko; it is that she was told to protect her by Satoshi. So, in those timelines, I believe it is safe to say she is helping Satoko for Satoshi, not for Satoko, at least in great part. She essentially said as much, after all. However, you are right that I cannot assume this is the case in all timelines. I do have to disagree on one thing, though - taking care of someone does not mean you care about them. It is common to take care of someone for one's own benefit rather than out of sympathy or empathy, or for the benefit of someone other than the person you are helping. Regardless of my moral qualms about Shion, you and I can agree that she is an excellent character and far from a bad person. :)
I love Shion because her character is very complex and well-developed, but I can see why people don't like her for what she did to Satoko. Even when Shion began to take care of Satoko, she did it to uphold an obligation to Satoshi, not her. That is how I interpreted it, anyway.
Your comment on Alois Trancy's page was incredibly well-written and you raised a lot of good points addressing the way people react not only to Alois, but to any mentally ill character who's not 'uwu huggable cinnamon roll.' Thank you for taking the time to write it all out!
