The Vision of Escaflowne: The Movie

Sep 29, 2011

Honestly, I was a little bit disappointed with the movie. I thought that the movie would somehow be like a mini-sequel to what happened after the anime series, even a prologue would've been better. It all turns out to be using just the same plot with the series - Hitomi gets pulled into Gaea, she meets Van, become very important especially when it comes with Escaflowne and they fight off Van's brother and the enemy. What makes it different is that, instead of Folken being just a very important commander of the enemy, HE is the 'head' of the Black Dragon that terrorized the people in Gaea (at least that's... IT is best advisable to start watching the series from the very beginning as each episode tends to jump from the present to the future and from a character's POV from the other. Although it would still be understandable especially you get on with things pretty easily. Since episode one, it welcomes you with an exciting plot, unless you're a person who can't handle bloody, and menacing characters and sometimes to the extent of a little gore. But even with that said, the mystery and the relationship between the supernatural characters and the story twists will keep you awake all throughout the series.

It has been a year since I last watched this, or maybe just a few months. I think it's such a bummer that the group that made this animation has either dropped making a second season or still undecided into making a second season. So it revolves around Teito Klein, a prisoner-of-war orphan who was taken up by one of the generals of the army. When he grew up he became a soldier, or studied to become a soldier and early in the anime he'd find out one secret that would change his entire life forever... Though, it might seem a little cliche - good versus evil - but isn't it one of the most common genres... See full review
