I don't know if you check this site often, but you have to watch Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai (Or AnoHana shortened). It's incredible and a lot deeper than most anime, and it's only 11 episodes. Of course, I would recommend watching Gurren Lagaan, Steins;Gate, etc. first, but you should definitely check this out!
(P.S. They're taking pre-orders right now for a bag that's shaped like Kirito's sword haha.)
