The Way of the Househusband

Nov 29, 2022

I got rec'd this for Secret Santa and I loved it. I watched the dub. for me, stars are a personal rating and scores are objective. I gave it five stars because I watched it with my girlfriend and we had an awesome time. now to the review.  STORY -- 5 there's not much in the way of a plot. it's all goofs. nothing wrong with that, but nothing stands out either, so I gave it a middle ground score.  ANIMATION -- 5 this is the part most people don't like about Way of the Househusband. it's mostly still shots with mouths moving. personally, I thought it added to the humor, but I can see how it... The Tatami Galaxy

really excellent work of art. it reminded me to appreciate life, and of ego death--the realization that the world truly isn't going to hand you anything. you have to love what you have with your whole heart, but mostly you have to love yourself, or you'll always be miserable.  episodes 10 and 11 especially made me think of time I spent in isolation and how the world felt like a miracle when I finally got away, even though I went straight to sharing a tiny room and suddenly being bombarded with work and school. I don't think I've ever felt better than then and it felt good to see that reflected in this... See full review

STORY not very plot-intense. just a band doing band things and being incredibly gay. there is some drama but it's 10% of the whole story. it's a chill watch. I'm glad to see well-done LGBT anime like this. it hit the perfect middle ground we all want to see--not queerbaiting, but not making a huge deal out of being gay for points either. the fact that it's two boys together is talked about a few times, and some people might have an issue with that. I feel like that's an important point to bring up.  lately I've seen more queer folk saying they want to see gay relationships so normalized that no one... See full review

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun

Dec 2, 2021

art was beautiful. animation was good but lazy in places. this is a micro-complaint, but the characters don't stand out from the backgrounds enough and it kind of messes with your eyes after a while.  sound was fucking annoying, god I hate anime screams. can we move on from the constant screams? do the Japanese themselves even like that? the characters were fine. they didn't develop at all but they were fine. I liked Mitsuba a lot.  the story was total bullshit. it brought up so many things that served no purpose at all and didn't go anywhere. that boy's staff was completely useless the entire... KonoSuba – God's blessing on this wonderful world!

Dec 18, 2020

STORY -- 5/10 The story wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that good. It actually grew on me towards the end with them defeating Verdia and the haunted house episode, but then I skipped the one about the succubuses because I didn't have the energy to watch a bunch of phallic visual gags and then I was at the end, which was pretty tired. Seems like most of the budget went into art, because I don't think anyone knew what to do beyond that. This is a classic example of "get a real plot down before you start production". Comedy isn't really an excuse. Keijo was way way more over-the-top than... See full review

Keijo!!!!!!!!

Dec 14, 2020

STORY -- 7/10 The story was much funnier when it took itself seriously. When you found yourself legitimately invested in its ridiculousness. There seemed to be times close to the end when everyone got bored and didn't know what to do next. Comedy takes effort. The last episode picked it back up though. I give the story a 7 because it was actually super feminist. This is what real feminists want: for women to be allowed to do whatever we want with our bodies and our lives, and for it to not be some huge deal. Keijo is a feminist dream. The girls in this anime are unique and build each other up without... See full review

A Place Further Than the Universe

Dec 4, 2019

I think this might be the first review I've written on here. I like to write, so hopefully this will be good.  MINOR SPOILERS ~~~ READ AT YOUR OWN RISK This was not a story about Antarctica. This was a story about people. It can be considered slice-of-life, but it does have a plot. In fact, it balances the two things well. The majority of your time is spent watching four high school girls goof off, but the plot never stalls. On occasion, their antics ARE the plot, like the passport incident. I personally never got bored. I will say I don't get bored easily when it comes to stories, but there's a... See full review
