Midori Days

Oct 2, 2009

It's school rumble, only crazier. If you don't know what school ruble is, then you might want to pay attention. By the way, this has no relation to green day, so if you were looking for them, go somewhere else.

So the main character is one of those delinquent types with a heart of gold, you know, like Harima Kenji from school rumble, except Seiji Sawamura is not very good at drawing, since he's got a girl for a right hand. Did I mention he had a girl for a right hand? Another problem is that girls are terrified of him, as no one is even willing to sit next to him during class. As you can guess, this show doesn't try to be the least bit credible. It's even got trains that run upside down! The plot mostly revolves around the fact this guy now had another person for a right hand. This includes having to deal with those type of guys who are all into anime figurines, bathing, and beating up punks.

The art is the kind that has just gotten old, not like 90's old, but still is beginning to not be able to pass standards. You know, the kind that if you were to release an anime of similar quality, you'd be chastised by critics. By the way, there is female nudity. So if that's your thing, go right ahead. For some reason, the manga has much less of that. By the way, I like the kinda cartoony style that this manga has to offer, it's funny.

The music adds to the kind of almost fantastic atmosphere, though it's not perfect, at least it knows what it's aiming for and actually sort of achieves its goal. The english dub is on par with the japanese one, I thought Vic Mignogna would have made a better Seiji, but voice acting nobody Drew Aaron does pull it off. Vic is in the anime anyway, he's Shiori's dad. Dan Green is in the dub too, 15 points for whoever gets it. But the japanese dub has more experienced voice actors like the guy who did Kitan as Seiji, and the girl who did Tsukasa (in the drama CD) as Midori. My only gripe is that the queen of tsundere, Rie Kugimiya is playing a boy, and that is never a good sign.

Well, the show really cut some parts out from the manga, they completely left out so many characters (Like the fujoshi who disappears after two chapters) and I really think this show could have been longer easily. Now if you're going into this looking for action, expect about as much as school rumble, i.e. not too much.

That's midori days, crazy while passing itself off as slightly less crazy, don't expect to find it in stores though, it's crazy hard.  Ah, now I'm half way done, only five more to go!
