Wolf Children

Sep 28, 2020

First of all, yes, I know, this movie is from 2012, past. but reading its title reminded me of a summer afternoon in 2014. I was on vacation with my father in Algarve (Portugal). instead of studying, i asked him that day, if i could watch a movie. all happy with his "yes", I ended up watching wolf children. at the end of the movie my father asked me to write an opinion text about it. in short, today I want to write my opinion about it again, because I was 10 when I saw the movie, and the text must have been a disgrace.

The story is simply charming, Hana is such a strong and courageous young girl (i probably wouldn't have even a third of her strength), she does a thousand and one things, from making a dress, growing vegetables to fixing roofs. The most complicated task for her is taking care of her wolf children (half human, half wolf) which without the help of the father, becomes very difficult.

We were able to see a great maturity both in relation to Hana and in her children and also in secondary characters. It is a very engaging movie, I found myself wanting to hug some characters and even wanting to hit some moments.

I cried in parts, but I ended the movie with a big smile, although also a little sad, but happy above all.

There were parts to improve, at the beginning the story was so focused on Hana that they even put other people with darker tones to just focus on her, it was a little strange, it was noticed what they wanted to do, but it went without being that way. The characters around could also be more developed, they appear and disappear in an instant, there could be a more lasting relationship with the main characters. But these are asides, I loved the movie, I highly recommend it.

8/10 story
7/10 animation
7.5/10 sound
8/10 characters
8/10 overall
