Anime I Completed in 2022 (in order of completion)

This is a list of all the anime that I completed in 2022. This list does NOT include the anime that I've re-watched, but rather the series that I've watched and completed for the FIRST time. It can also be taken as a challenge for those who feel up to it! :D
1 My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! OVA

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! OVA

So this is basically a re-cap of how Katerina collected the majority of her harem lol. Geordo, Keith, Mary, Alan, Sophia, and Nicol are the aforementioned harem members (missing Anne, Maria, Rafael, Sora, etc). So yeah, it was cute... but really just a somewhat creative way to do a re-cap of how her childhood harem members became so crazy about her.

This OVA is a 2.5/5 (5/10) for me.

And Happy 2022 everyone! Hopefully this will be a better year than last year. And also RIP to Betty White who passed 12-31-2021. I grew up watching Golden Girls and I loved her character Rose. She was the oldest one of the main cast and the last one alive. Now all of the Golden Girls have passed on! T^T

2 The Faraway Paladin

The Faraway Paladin

I'm isekai trash lol. I always love watching and reading isekai, but much of the isekai anime are run of the mill and kinda overused tropes and slightly trash. However, Saihate no Paladin is a slower paced (mostly) isekai that kind of gives me the slice of life feeling with isekai and fantasy thrown in. I enjoyed this far more than I thought I would and am very much looking forward to the second season.

This is a 3.5/5 (7/10) for me.

3 Kabukibu! Special

Kabukibu! Special

It's been ages since I watched the series (I watched it as it aired in 2017), but I do remember how much I enjoyed the series. This was a valentine special episode and although I tend to not like those... I did, in fact, like this one. Kaoru totally has a secret crush on Tonbo and gave him those chocolates, while he seemingly remains oblivious.

This was a 3/5 (5.5/10) for me.

4 Sorairo Utility (2021)

Sorairo Utility (2021)

This was a 14 minute special about three high school girls playing a game of golf... two experienced players and a newbie. It was actually pretty cute and I wouldn't have minded a bit had this been a series instead of just a special.

This was a 3/5 (6/10) for me.

5 Fairies Albums

Fairies Albums

This donghua (Chinese) series is a bit like a cross between Mushishi and Natsume Yuujinchou if you exclude the MC's. For the most part, the series is a fascinating watch and I enjoyed it, but the one massive draw back is Tao Yao (a.k.a Taozi) who made me want to slap the ever loving sh*t out of her soooooo many times in this first season! She comes off as this narcissistic person who really only cares about herself and what people can either do for her or give her, with very, very, VERY few times where she had the appropriate response to someone and it was rare that I didn't want to slap the shit out of her. Everything else about the series was great, but when you have a heroine who is THAT annoying it does draw back your enjoyment.

So for me, this first season was a 3/5 (5.5/10). I'll still watch the second season, because other than Tao Yao, I really did enjoy the series. I can only hope that she has some character growth that makes her grow out of the annoying bits that make you want to slap her.

I kept hearing high praise for this series so I had high expectations. It wasn't quite what I expected because the praise was making me expect a masterpiece series, but this one had some definite flaws... mostly in the characters and a little in the plot. However, it was still incredibly fascinating and a very addictive and compelling watch that makes me look forward to the second season... especially after that cliffhanger of an ending!

For me this first season was a very solid 3.5/5 (7.5/10).

7 Link Click: Marrying by Contesting

Link Click: Marrying by Contesting

Holy hell, but that father is one stubborn S.O.B he totally missed out on getting grandchildren from his daughter because he waited until she was at least 60 to give her the approval to marry the man she loved despite the fact that the guy showed the tenacity to not give up on marrying the woman he loved after having to walk up a f*ck ton of stairs in less than two hours and then subject himself to getting his ass kicked. And then do it all over again every single year again and again and again because he didn't want to give up on her. The dad should have given in after 5 years TOPS!

This wasn't as good as the rest of the series, but was still a nice watch. This was a 3/5 (6/10) for me.

8 Mameneko

Mameneko

A very cute 12 episode short series about two kittens who are adopted by a family of 5 people and their daily lives. It was a very cute little series and I definitely would enjoy more of this! Each episode was about 3 minutes long.

This was a 3/5 (5.5/10) for me.

9 Null & Peta

Null & Peta

This is a 12 episode short series that I had very little expectation for, but was pleasantly surprised. It's very different from what I expected... especially after glancing at the content warning.

It was a nice watch and now I'm going to tackle the special lol.

This was a 3/5 (5.5/10) for me.

10 Null & Peta Special

Null & Peta Special

Okay, skip the hell out of this! It's soooooooooooooo bad! Like, I have no words it was just terrible!

0.5/5 (1.5/10)

11 Momoiro Sisters

Momoiro Sisters

This is a series that came out when I was 11 (I'm 34, if you're curious) so the animation is sub-par 90's animation. It's a 23 episode short series about 2 sisters and what's going on in their lives. Each episode is about 6 minutes long. It's a decent watch if you want something short... but there are definitely better things out there.

This was a 2/5 (4/10) for me.

12 Momoiro Sisters: Idol Densetsu Momoko!?

Momoiro Sisters: Idol Densetsu Momoko!?

A special ep that finishes off the ^above series.

Still a 2/5 (4/10) for me.

13 Neko nanka Yondemo Konai.

Neko nanka Yondemo Konai.

Another 12 episode short with the episodes consisting of about 1.5 minutes of content per ep. It was cute, but nothing really special. I like cats, so I enjoyed it.

This was a 2.5/5 (4.5/10) for me.

14 Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle Mini Anime

Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle Mini Anime

These were cute little shorts that I found subbed on youtube. They were each about a minute and a half in length. It made me wish they did another season of the main series! T^T

2.5/5 (5/10) for me.

15 Dr. Ramune Mysterious Disease Specialist

Dr. Ramune Mysterious Disease Specialist

I didn't watch many of the 2021 anime so I have quite a few that were in my planned to watch list, this one included and as it sounded both interesting and relaxing to watch it ended up near the top of my list. I actually enjoyed this series far more than I thought that I would and if they ever decide to make a second season then I'd definitely watch it.

Again, I really liked this series so it gets a 3.5/5 (6.5/10) from me.

16 Katsudou Shashin

Katsudou Shashin

Someone mentioned that this is thought to be the first animated work from Japan since it's estimated to be from 1907. So yeah... it's 4 seconds long. Just pop over to youtube and you can watch it.

I'm giving it a 2/5 (4.5/10) because I'm taking in the fact that it's over 100 years old. If you want to say you watched the first anime ever... or at least the first that's likely survived, then give it a watch.

17 Rumiko Takahashi Anthology

Rumiko Takahashi Anthology

Stumbled on this by chance and the idea of watching an anthalogy series appealed to me. It was a fairly decent watch. Hard to get bored when every episode is about a different focal character and most of them aren't connected at all. It was an interesting watch and makes me wonder if there are more anthalogy anime out there that I just have never stumbled upon.

This was a 3/5 (5.5/10) for me.

18 Inko Colors

Inko Colors

A cute little short about a bunch of parakeets who are trying to help one of their own find their way home after getting lost.

A 3/5 (5.5/10) for me

19 Inko Colors 2

Inko Colors 2

A cute little short about a bunch a parakeets who find a fallen swallow chick and attempt to put it back in the nest. Then upon finding out that it and it's brother are abandoned, they raise the two chicks.

Not as cute as the first one, but still decent. 2.5/5 (4.5/10)

20 Hakubunchou no Shiro

Hakubunchou no Shiro

A cute little short about a sparrow who wants to help their owner after they collapse and need human help.

3/5 (5.5/10) for me.

21 Waiter

Waiter

Oh, I HATE this so much! WTF does it even exist?! The person who came up with this is such a messed up person, like this must have been some drunken script writing because it was a f-cked up mess and was just plain imagined by someone disturbed. I found the whole thing completely unsettling. Didn't like it at ALL!

0.5/5 (1/10) and if I could rate it lower... I would!

22 Happy Birthday Inochi Kagayaku Toki

Happy Birthday Inochi Kagayaku Toki

So, the brother starts off as a massive dick, but really, who doesn't have a sibling who isn't a total ass to you at times for seemingly no reason other than they woke up on the wrong side of the bed one morning and decided to basically pick on you all day long? Just me? Anyway, the brother shows that he does indeed love his sister and is worried about her and didn't actually mean what he said to her, but rather it comes out later that it was likely stress and frustration that made him lash out at her. I mean, she was 12 to his 15 so it was still shitty, but he was still a kid so it's excusable. He still turned out to be a pretty decent brother in the end showing that he would protect his sister even if it was from his own parents. So yeah, props to him. The mother on the other hand is not in any way forgiven. The bitch doesn't deserve either one of her kids and takes the stress of her childhood and her own inferiority complex out on both of her kids. Even wising up and seeing just how much of a shitty person she was at the end did not excuse her actions. At all. Can she wise up? Yes. But that doesn't negate the way she treated her kids or the things she said to them. Or hitting her daughter?! Those words and actions are something that will stick with them for the rest of their lives. She done fucked up! I was absolutely furious and disgusted with her. Honestly, if I were Asuka (and her brother) I would have asked if I could live with the grandparents because both of them were genuinely good, kind, and caring people. The fact that their mother felt neglected in her youth because she had a sickly older sister that they focused all their attention on is not their fault at all. And their eldest daughter ended up DYING in the end. They were good people and both of the grandchildren would have been a lot better off spending the remainder of their childhood with the two of them on their farm instead of with their horrible mother and absentee father! The kids just deserved better!

Okay, rant over! Anyway, the animation for this wasn't good. For a movie made in 1999, you would think the animation would have been even the slightest bit better than it was. It looked like something made in the early 90's (90-93) rather than something made the year before the new millineum. It was disappointing, to say the least. The plot was fairly decent, though the fact that they didn't go into Megumi's exact disability made me annoyed... But the movie itself was good for it's time. And yes, it did in fact make me cry. So for me this was a 3/5 (6/10).

23 Irodorimidori

Irodorimidori

A short series about a group of girls who join a band because one of the girls wants the extra credit due to her bad grades. It was okay... I mean, they were only 2-3 minute eps so it wasn't a bad way to waste time.

2/5 (4/10) for me.

24 The Misfit of Demon King Academy

The Misfit of Demon King Academy

So... I actually had planned to watch this as it was airing, but then I heard it was kinda run of the mill overpowered character shtick and so just never picked it up. But I actually sometimes get in the mood to watch an anime or read a manga or manhwa with an overpowered character and when I was in such a mood I picked this series up and thoroughly enjoyed it. And yes, I will watch the second season when it comes out. I mean, the series isn't really anything special and doesn't really bring anything new to the metaphorical table, but it was still entertaining as hell so it's worth the time I took in watching it.

This was a 3/5 (5.5/10) for me.

25 Tomoko Oshima: Tadaima.

Tomoko Oshima: Tadaima.

So incredibly forgettable. The short was in music video format and it was like listening to elevator music. It was just... boring.

1/5 (2.5/10)

26 Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san

Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san

This is a 12 episode shoujo-ai short series. I've never been a fan of shoujo-ai and this series didn't change my mind about it. But the episodes were only 3 minutes each so for just over a half hour of content it's not a bad way to waste time when you're bored.

2/5 (3.5/10) for me.

27 Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san Special

Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san Special

This is a four minute special episode of the shoujo-ai short series from above. It was the token onsen/beach episode that seemingly every anime has. In this case it was an onsen episode. I was pretty much on par with the rest of the series except maybe just slightly more annoying than normal.

1.5/5 (3/10) for me.

28 Big Fish & Begonia

Big Fish & Begonia

Don't go into watching this thinking it's going to be a happy go lucky story because... it's not. This is a Chinese donghua movie that very much is like a Chinese Disney or Studio Ghibli movie. I thought it was really good, but it was somewhat melancholy and it made me cry. I especially felt bad for poor Qiu who was willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING for the girl he loves to be safe and happy. Even if it was with someone else. My heart hurt so much for him in the end and I'm guessing that the second movie will probably focus on him and his fate due to the choices and sacrifices that he made for Chen to be happy. I'll watch it, but I hope he finds some happiness himself.

This movie was a 3.5/5 (7/10) for me.

29 In the Land of Leadale

In the Land of Leadale

So this is another isekai, but it's a relaxing one to watch. It's got a slower pace so if that's not your thing then it's not for you, but it was a relaxing and fun watch.

This was a 3/5 (6/10) for me.

30 The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest

The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest

For some reason I actually enjoy watching and reading things with OP MC's sometimes and this series scratched that itch. It was kind of run of the mill, but I still enjoyed watching it none the less.

This was a 3/5 (5.5/10) for me.

31 Sasaki and Miyano

Sasaki and Miyano

This series is like sooooo friggin' CUTE! And yes, it's BL. If you want to see a cute BL with a healthy build to the relationship and no forcing themselves on each other then this is one of the best options series wise in the BL genre (other than Given). I've been a BL fan for ages and this series was just... too damn adorable! I was happy to hear at the end of episode 12 that they've greenlit more for this series because I'd love to see their relationship deepen even more!

I really adored this series so for me it's a solid 4/5 (8/10).

32 Ascendance of a Bookworm Recaps

Ascendance of a Bookworm Recaps

Since season 3 starts in two weeks watching the recaps was an easy way to refresh my memory of the last two seasons without re-watching the entire series... though at some point I'm sure I'll do that anyway lol.

The recaps were a 3/5 (5.5/10). Nothing remarkable, and nothing new, but good as a refresher.

33 Life With an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated Into a Total Fantasy Knockout

Life With an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated Into a Total Fantasy Knockout

I'm isekai trash so this series gave me my isekai fix. It was just slightly better than mediocre, but entertaining and I wouldn't say no to a second seasons should they ever decide to make one.

This was a 3/5 (5.5/10) for me.

34 Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest 2nd Season

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest 2nd Season

The basic animation for this series is still good, but any and all CG is absolute garbage and still tanks the series, though it's admittedly, slightly improved from the first season (meaning the CG, but when you start at rock bottom you can't technically really sink any lower unless you dig underneath, right? So it's really not a compliment that they improved the CG to make it just slightly less horrifyingly garbage). I found this second season actually just the slightest bit more annoying than the first, but somehow still found it entertaining despite myself because as stated before I really am isekai trash and occasionally really enjoy watching overpowered MC's. That Kouki prick is still the most annoying character in the entire series, btw. Even given the fact that he didn't have much screen time I still felt the overwhelming urge to go beyond the bounds of reality for the sheer pleasure of punching his extremely punchable face (yeah... I have some issues lol).

Anyway, this second season was a 2/5 (4/10) for me. I mean, it was entertaining still so should a third season come out someday I'd undoubtedly watch it, but I really wish they'd make sequels for series that deserved it more than things like this... which are just crap series that are somehow still enjoyable though I really don't understand just WHY I enjoy them... I just do (because it's a problem and I don't know how to fix it lol).

35 Natsume's Book of Friends: A Day Out in Hitoyoshi Kuma

Natsume's Book of Friends: A Day Out in Hitoyoshi Kuma

This was a tourist advertisement. It was cute and short. It made me want another season though! T^T I miss this series!

This was a 2.5/5 (5.5/10).

36 Ants in the sky

Ants in the sky

It's really difficult for me to find shorts that I actually like and this was yet another short that I hated every little thing about it...

0.5/5 (1/10) for me. Now I just have to find a way to scrub the last five and a half minutes from my memory...

37 zap dog

zap dog

A very short 30 second short. It was alright...

1/5 (2/10).

38 Ai wo Komete

Ai wo Komete

When your food TALKS to you and even GREETS you would you eat it? That little girl is so messed up! I wouldn't be able to eat the tomato after that!

This is a 2.5/5 (5/10) for me.

39 Aru Apartment no Isshitsu

Aru Apartment no Isshitsu

I hate this. I hate that this even exists. The animation was 'artistic' and really, really, really not my thing. There was no dialogue and quite frankly the music put in the backround was just incredibly bad.

0.5/5 (1/10) for me as I got absolutely no enjoyment from this short what-so-ever!

40 Valley of White Birds

Valley of White Birds

I still have absolutely no idea what this was about lol, but it was a fascinating watch for a 15 minute Chinese short film. If you have 15 minutes go give it watch!

3/5 (5.5/10)

41 Salaryman's Club

Salaryman's Club

This is a sports anime based around badminton which is a first that I've seen happen. I love rare sports anime and this fit the bill. 1. It's not a sport I've seen animated yet. 2. It's based around adults instead of kiddos still in school (I mean, yeah, there are sports anime where the characters are adults. It's just rare). And... the characters are interesting and the plot itself is actually good. Which are all massive pluses and made for a very happy me.

I only hope that they do another season or a movie or something because I really did enjoy the hell out of the series. This was a 3.5/5 (7/10) for me.

42 Legend of Exorcism

Legend of Exorcism

I've only watched two donghua (Chinese animation) with this animation style (though one of the two is still airing) which is basically like watching an animated video game due to it being CGI. It's actually really well done and Chinese CGI is superior to Japanese CGI (imo). I actually enjoyed this series far more than I thought. I am slightly irritated though by the cliffhanger ending and I'm just lucky that the second season has fully aired so I can just pick up right away, but if THAT has a cliffhanger too... I will bitch about it until the third season comes out lol. Anyway, this series is done by the studio who does Douluo Dalu (which I have yet to get into) but this series is based on a BL webnovel. However, due to this being a Chinese series it's highly censored and thus the BL comes off as not more than bromance so you can still watch this series even if BL is not your thing.

So yeah, for me this season is a 3/5 (6/10). It would have rated a half star higher (and a 7/10) if it hadn't ended the way it did... still, I did enjoy it.

43 Legend of Exorcism 2nd Season

Legend of Exorcism 2nd Season

I'm soooo pissed at the ending being ANOTHER cliffhanger! Like, WTF?!! How can you f-ing end it like that?! Urgh!

Anyway, other than an absolutely INFURIATING cliffhanger of an ending, this second season was actually better than the first, imo. You even get a new BL couple to ship (that are canon woo!). However, if you're a big fan of Ah Tai (spoiler... the only friggin' canon straight character. And doesn't that blow your mind lol. end spoiler) or Qiu Yongsi then you're bound to be disappointed because they're only in like the first two or so eps. Mostly this season is based around the two main canon couples Jinlong and Hongjun and Mo Rigen and Lu Xu (who is absolutely adorable). So yes, this resolves the cliffhanger from season 1 in the first two eps and then starts the next arc which ends in ANOTHER friggin' cliffhanger! (Yes, I'm keeping my word and bitching about it every chance I get)

Anyway, despite the really shitty cliffhanger of an ending I give this season a 3.5/5 (7/10).

44 Boku wa Robot-goshi no Kimi ni Koi wo Suru PV

Boku wa Robot-goshi no Kimi ni Koi wo Suru PV

This is a promotional short that was made to promote a novel. However, it's now getting an anime movie. Not sure that I'll actually watch the movie though as I found this kind of confusing and it just didn't appeal to me, but I guess we'll see when the movie comes out.

This is a 2/5 (4/10) for  me.

45 Ndaho Kekkon Omedetou!!

Ndaho Kekkon Omedetou!!

This was a rather cute no dialogue MV put to music that was made for a bandmate whowas taking the next steps in his life and the band (his friends) wanting to congradulate him on his marriage.

A 2.5/5 (5/10) for me.

46 The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse

This short was also a no dialogue set to music one, but it was actually one of the rare good ones. It was very bittersweet and made me tear up.

3/5 (6/10) for me.

47 Konoha Kaseki no Natsu

Konoha Kaseki no Natsu

About a young boy who accidentally breaks one of his dads fossils and tries to find him another one to replace it. He then meets another young boy who shows him a good place to look for them.

This was a 3/5 (5.5/10) for me (and am I crazy, but wasn't that end bit heavily implying that that boy Toshi that he met was his DAD? Did I understand that right? Or is my imagination just overactive lol)

48 Chinzei Hachirou Tametomo

Chinzei Hachirou Tametomo

Another zero dialogue short put to music. This one was historical and I usually like those, but I didn't care for this short. Honestly, the music was subpar and I wasn't a fan of the story even if the animation was decent.

This was a 2/5 (3.5/10) for me

49 My Journey in an Alternate World

My Journey in an Alternate World

Short episodes with CG animation making it feel like watching a video game. It's hilarious though when they're inside and their hair is moving like they're in a strong wind, but obviously there isn't wind. Still, for some reason, I did enjoy this. Had no real ending so hopefully they do make a second season or else that's just messed up...

This is a 3/5 (5.5/10 for me).

50 Garden Club Detective Squad PV

Garden Club Detective Squad PV

Very nice PV for this manhwa. I definitely want to read soon after watching this. Also, this would be an interesting anime. Too bad it's so rare for the Japanese to pick up and animate Korean series...

A 3/5 (5.5/10) for me.
