Hellsing

Jul 5, 2016

STORY: Hellsing tells the story of a Vampire named Alucard who works for the Hellsing (specifically Integra Hellsing) family to hunt down Vampires and other undead creatures in the name of the Queen and country of England. In the very first episode he rescues a female police officer named Seras, but in doing so, turns her into a vampire as well and takes her in to Hellsing as his desciple of sorts.

Over the course of the series the discovery of a computer chip/virus that converts normal humans into essentially a lower class of vampire is made. As the series progresses The Hellsing family finds itself under fire from other groups and is on the brink of destruction and the fate of Hellsing, and the world ends up all on Alucards shoulders...But thats ok, because apparently he's a super saiyan.

All in all I did enjoy Hellsing. Good pacing, gripping storyline. Nothin in my mind that stood out as super special, but a good one none the less, unfortunately it did have some faults. The first being the main hero's reincarnation after seemingly being killed because his master screamed his name. Also, the manner in which the main villain was finally disposed of kinda didn't add up in my mind. But those are minor, we are talking about a sci fi vampire story here. The biggest problem in my mind was at the very end when they do a brief text description of the aftermath of the story, but they don't really answer the who dunnits. It's not the end of the world, but it certainly would have made the story feel more complete.

ANIMATION: The Animation in this series, although not great, was still pretty good. The only real issue i had with the series is that i felt the action could have been done a little better. The Visuals were fantastic, the character designs were unique and interesting. Very little wrong with this series.

SOUND. Like the Animation, the sound was pretty good, just not great. No issues with it at all unlike the animation. For what it's worth, I saw some episodes in the english Dub and most in Japanese with the sub. I personally enjoyed both, but I saw a lot of people say they didnt like the Dub because Sares didn't sound like a pre pubescent girl (a part I actually preffered) and because the characters in the show from ENGLAND pronounced "Alucard" with an english accent. Apparently from the stuff I saw, english people are expected to pronounce words with french accents.

CHARACTERS: Good cast of characters verying in persona with adequate back stories and development for you to understand them for the most part. Unfortunitely there were a couple minor things left unexplained that didn't really hurt any of the characters, but probably could have helped.

6/10 story
8/10 animation
9/10 sound
8/10 characters
7.3/10 overall
